Muscovy duck
A stranger has arrived in our neighbourhood, one I have never seen before - a Muscovy duck whose ancestors hail from Latin America. They are said to be hardy lovers of freedom who escape farmyards and fly away with wild geese and ducks.

This Muscovy was silly to escape without another Muscovy. The geese and mallards sharing its pond shun this guy or gal now that they are thinking of starting families.
The Muscovy was not afraid of me but was hoping I was the bearer of a tasty goody, which I was not.

That is quite the bright face.Maybe this one will come to its senses and return to the farm.
We have lots of white ducks around where we live. None of them look like this one.

Our neighbor in Illinois had a few of these only they weren't as pretty as this one.
The face "mask" is terrific! Hope this one finds a mate!! It is spring, after all!
i love these silly ducks. if he's lucky, he might find a mallard hen willing to pair up with him...
I hope they find a home for their nest and plenty of food soon. They're very interesting looking dudes!

There are thousands of these things in South Florida...but they aren't as pretty as this one. They are also very messy, and we call them Mucky Ducks!

Great shots and quite different than what I've seen. We have some Muscovy ducks here, but they're primarily black with some white on the head or face. Rather striking ducks, actually.

She is a very pretty girl. Our local aviary has several Muscovy ducks and they are fun to watch.
I used to see a lot of Muscovys in ponds near where my parents live, but where i live now there seem to be far fewer of them.

Oh little poor one, not having her/his partner besides.. and the other shunning him/her.. making me so sad.. :/ So big is the freedom, flying away, and then starting to miss his/her lover..

Their feet look so uncomfortable for walking...I always wonder does anyone else think that.
