Robin feasting on frozen apples
The robins have returned before the earth has warmed enough for worms to wend their way to the surface. So what's a robin to do? Feast on last autumn's apples!

A not so still life picture :-). Love the muted colours and the light and the composition. Have a lovely weekend!
Poor critter, seems so frozen as the apples...
God bless you!

Great shot! Apples and worms what a diet. Thanks for sharing your critter. Have a Happy Weekend!
Birds are so clever. Can't wait to see our first robins. Have a relaxing and wonderful week-end!
Such a beautiful site so wonderfully captured!
Awesome. B
We had robins really early this year. No wonder our Texas bluebonnets are already blooming!
Beautiful, one of my favorite birds!
I imagine the ground is still frozen and worms are yet to be on the menu?
precious, had no idea they would eat apples. we saw a squirrel run up our tree yesterday carrying a grapefruit n his mouth
Weird! We has robins here in January eating red berries off our Christmas decorations. ???????
From the looks of Robin Redbreast I say it has been feasting all winter! The ones we see here are skinny!
Even with the snow that little robin says it's spring!
frozen apples! I wonder if it's their version of a treat
love the texture of your shot
He is so handsome.
good for you that spring has arrived. :)
You should make Christmas cards out of this one. I would!
Oh yes, I have seen lots of Robins, but not seen them eating anything. We didn't have a good year for apples last Fall.
I'm always worrying for little birds in winter.. At least, this one has something to eat!
I heard a robin this morning!
What a sweet photo. I've always been fascinated by robins.
I love this shot... such wonderfully crisp focus. I'm always thrilled to see the Robins return in the late winter every year. Will you consider entering it in my 'Weekly Top Shot' meme? We're on Week #21 and I'd love to see you share with me and my readers! Here's this weeks' link: http://www.theviewfromrighthere.com/blog/?p=6603
We have robins that overwinter but only show their big red breasts in January for a day or so then we usually don't see them again until March. This year, they showed up on schedule and never went back into hiding.
Sweet Robin!! =) And i got hungry.. and had to eat.. and meanwhile I forgot the pc.. and Robin..
In that way, both Robin and I got hungry..! ;D
Love the feeling of this picture - looks pretty cold though. Aren't Robins cute though.
Spring can't be far! :D
Nicely captured, good to see the apples are still edible for the robins. Ours are rotting on the lawn, all brown.
What a beautiful photograph. You captured him perfectly.
Robin's here too. Tons of Juncos too but of course they stay all winter. MB
Captured beautifully!
My Critter Post, have a blessed weekend.
Great capture.
What a sweet thing, and you captured the expressiveness so wonderfully.
It's a bit sad...the robins must be so very hungry.
This is a plump little fellow, he obviously knows where to find food throughout the winter!
That's a nice bird shot! Love the colors on bird and fruit.
As I said before I just loved this shot... I'm so glad you decided to join us and share at 'Weekly Top Shot.' :-) I hope you'll come share again next week...
what a pretty photo, such lovely colours!
Lovely composition, EG, with the red robin breast and red apples.
The robins are feasting on the leftovers from our apple tree, too. Daisy and the horses also like them. They don't seem to care that they're out of season!
