Wild mink on the shore of Lake Ontario
Last Monday as I was watching bufflehead ducks dive for lunch, a mink (a member of the weasel family) walked by.
Mink wondering: What was that click sound I heard?
Added later: Many thanks to Gary who identified this mink.

I saw one at the ferry docks in downtown Toronto last summer - shocked me that's for sure. Nice portrait.
So cute! Based on this photo, I could say that connotations associated with the saying " what a weasel" are greatly exaggerated :-).
Nice catch!!
Fantastic, EG! I've never seen one of these in the wild. It's cute. I wonder why the name became a synonym for "jerk," like in "He's such a little weasel"?
Wonderful pictures this week. I giggled a little when I first saw the weasel. When I was in school, that was my nickname!!!
A very beautiful weasel, and it is like it reacted on a click, yes.. haha!
Adorable photo! =)

What a great find and a great photo. I dare say most people have never encountered a weasel in the wild. I'm one of them!
So cute! How lucky you are with such encounters!
What a cute critter and a great sighting. Awesome shots.
What a fantastic capture. I have only ever seen weasels as a blur rushing across a road.

He is all ears!
so that is what a weasel looks like!
Fascinating capture of a cute critter! I’ve never seen a weasel in person.
I've never seen one in person. He posed nice.
What a cutie you've captured!
Have a great weekend!
Super cute animal! Reminds me of our mongooses.
That's a wild mink!! Confirmed by the orange spot under his chin. Congrats!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Well captured but no he does not appeal to me at all.
How lucky! I can't imagine a weasel just wandering by. :-)
That first shot is great. I'm surprised at how calm and demur he looks.
Wonderful shot, I would love to be able to capture these kinds of critters.
Great captures - so nice of him to pose for you! :)
What terrific captures!
An amazing shot. How fortunate you were to be there at the right moment. V
Great capture! I did have an ermine show up at my camp but I was so astonished to see it run through the backyard...I forgot to pick up my camera!
He's sort of cute!
Great shot!

Wow, I've never seen one of those in the real. Such cool pictures!
Wow! I've never seen anyone post weasel photos before. Actually, I've never seen one in real life, either. Nice shots!
Were you just shocked to see this critter? I would have been and I would never have known what it was.

What an amazing sight!
I think I have saw one mink in the wild in my life...but never the chance for a photo such as these! I bet you felt like you had hit gold...oh, have you seen the show the golden girls...and the one where they tried to raise minks? Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WVMGOWmgjU
I have had it on my blog before I think...but no matter how many times I watch it, I laugh.
What a great shot! Well-captured!
