Mural on water treatment plant, Cobourg, Ontario
This mural depicts the early days of Cobourg, founded in 1798, and is a celebration of the town's bicentennial. As you can see, fourteen years after the celebration the mural is dirty and looking a bit worn.

After being exposed to the elements for a few years, the painting is bound to deteriorate. Shame. But the colours are still vibrant and it still looks good.

Murals, even when need of a face-lift always improves the environment. Guess someone better get to the city fathers. It would be a shame if it was allowed to deteriorate even more.
Maybe a good cleaning and the application of some sort of sealer might be in order.
It still looks better than a plain old water tank.

Even old and dirty, the paintings are still beautyful and full of charm.
This is such a nice mural that I hope it is kept up. It might call for the artist to actually do the work and sometimes that is not possible. We have a Whaling Wall mural in my neck of the woods and the artist has I believe repainted some areas of the work. Not sure if the city needs to pay the cost of that being done or not. Interesting look at the past, though, and so appropriately placed.

Nice mural showing days long gone, I wonder how great it must have looked at its prime. Pity that it is now a bit neglected.

My husband is a water engineer, I often go and see these plants, but we don't have murals.
I love the idea of beautifying otherwise drab areas with murals. The history in this one steps through the faded charm, and like the other posters, I hope the mural will be kept up.
