Northern Flicker/Wild Birds

 Northern flicker creating a nest

The first photo was taken last June. This flicker let me get quite close - a bird with a mission. I was however shooting into the light as the tree was quite close to a fence that I could not walk around.

Northern flicker atop a pole in a marsh

This flicker was quite far away. I photographed it from a second story building.

Flying off

What a great set of pictures - I really like woodpeckers of all types, but we don't have any in Australia. That little crescent of black and the black bib are great features.

Wow! Great shots! A northern flicker visited our yard one year, and was the catalyst for my birding hobby.
