Red-tailed hawk (Buteo jamaicensis)
This hawk was sitting on a fence, fascinated by the cars on the busy highway or perhaps looking for a potential meal. Whatever! It wasn't very bothered by me and allowed me to get quite close to take this photo.
I am joining Stewart M's Wild Bird Wednesday HERE

SUPER!! I would LOVE to get that close to one!
Awesome pic. He's not afraid of you at all.
Amazing how he can quickly unwind his claws from all that metal of the fence for a fast getaway. Amazing that he allowed you to get so close. Amazing bird!
The way his head is turned slightly it appears like he is looking right at me from the photo. Great shot!
How lucky to catch this beauty! You have a real eye for the birds. :)
he's beautiful!
You must have a special attraction to birds! I can never get close to these things! Amazing!
Wonderful capture.
Great picture. Love the lighting. A bird in charge of his surroundings.
The Red Tail Hawk is a beautiful bird and beautifully photographed here. They are common in the Midwest.
He looks like a proud creature. I don't know how you do it, but I'm glad you do.
Nice of him to pose and look right at the camera for you. Great capture!
Stunning picture! What an imposing and noble Red Tail Hawk!
Great post of him!
Great photo of the hawk - I like the golden light.
Woaw! this picture is really beautyful and impressive!
Mało, że pozwolił podejść blisko do siebie, ale się patrzył też na Ciebie. Cudowne zdjęcie. Pozdrawiam.
Enough, he let come close to each other, but are also looking for you. Wonderful picture. Yours.
Wow, how lucky you were! Great photo!
Merry Christmas to you! /Pia
He likes you or your camera... nice shot.
You have a knack for making birds pose for you, EG.
What a wonderful image... many thanks for sharing it.
Excellent shot!
Pretty nifty fence it chose to perch on too!
Love those piercing eyes!
Beautiful looking bird.
Wonderful shot and how smart of you to be in the right place with your camera at the right time!
The hawk heard humans used that highway as part of their daily rat race.
"Rats?? Mmmmmmmm."
This is a great portrait of the hawk.
Wonderful capture!
That is a splendid picture. The bird has a real look of focus to it.
Cheers and thanks for linking to WBW - Stewart M - Melbourne
Beautiful shot! My husband and I saw an owl this past week, and wouldn't you know it, I didn't have my camera!
Now that is a gorgeous bird and gorgeous shot! I love the perfect golden light you caught too.
What a wonderful capture!
I believe this fellow (or a cousin)was having a snack in my front yard this year. I was gobsmacked when he took off -- amazing wingspan.
He makes me think of a professor, so wise and regal.
So awesome! What a great photo!
Beautiful! I had another Cooper's Hawk show up today, but it was a little too dark, and mu camera was not ready. Amazing creatures!
Hi again and thank you for your visit and comment!
My post to the WBW was here: http://www.istoradrag.blogspot.se/2012/12/vart-vackra-vintervader.html
