Ruby-throated hummingbird
Hummingbirds have been hanging around my garden lately but every time I try to capture them with my camera, they disappear. I took these photos on the first of September and have been waiting ever since to get better ones. Ha! Soon they'll be gone, headed for the Deep South and beyond.
Heading towards Physotegia in a side garden
There are still plenty of blossoms full of nectar, but two acted as if there was only enough for one. I suspect they were squabbling siblings.
Hiding?

Pretty shots of your hummingbirds! I will miss them when they head south!
Nice captures!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Lovely. We don't see hummingbirds in the wild here, so I think you are lucky! ;)
Nice shots! Mine have disappeared.
Don't know the words? Just hum. I do a lot. hahahaha
sweet little buzzers.
Gorgeous images!!! So much better than I could do!!!
You have done a wonderful job of capturing this hard to photograph little bird.
They are so pretty and such a delight to see. I don't have any now but used to get one or two every evening in the garden.
The colours are sooooo pretty!
Very pretty hummingbird. Nice shots. See those tiny feet.
Beautiful hummingbirds photos!

Marvellous captures EG! I have one buzzing around my yard, but never long enought to get a pic!
The photos you got earlier are great!! The hummers are probably sensing an urgency to get going, and that's why they don't take time for the camera!!
how amazing to have such beautiful visitors to your garden - I especially like picture 3 - Jane uk
Awesome shots of the gorgeous hummingbirds.
Pretty shots.
No small feat, getting these pix! Beautiful.
One word, STUNNING.
I've seen them just a few times this summer -- didn't even attempt to capture them. I think you did well.
These are great captures CG. They were busy here today again.
They are so jewel-like!!
What delicate creatures they are!
I had two squabbling hammers in the yard earlier this summer, dive-bombing each other.
Wonderful captures.
wow! great snaps
thanks
Excellent shots. I hope you see more Hummers. We took our Hummingbird feeders down because no one was showing up anymore and then today one came right up to me and looked so sad. I rushed right in and fixed up a feeder so now I hope they come back. MB
You worked some camera magic.
Magnificent!
I think the pic with the wings almost still is amazing. Mine are almost always blurred out. We have them on our butterfly bushes, but they are so quick it is almost impossible to get a good shot.
They dart so fast, you got some good shots.

Lovely photos ...glad you shared (I'd be so happy to get some this good).
W've had them here in Illinois the past few weeks, but yesterday it turned cold and none came to the feeder.
Fabulous shots...specially that last!
