Male Northern Pintail (Anas acuta)
Wild ducks are on the move and Sunday afternoon I was fortunate enough to see this drake swimming amongst the reeds in a marsh I like to visit. In the past, I have seen them in early spring swimming in ponds and marshes before all the ice has melted, but this was the first time I'd seen one in fall.
Pintail, his wonky reflection, and reflection of water-depth marker
Many ducks are less handsome in fall than they are during the breeding season, but this species maintains their good looks throughout the year.

Kaczki są sliczne, ale zdjęcia ich wspaniałe. Pozdrawiam.
Ducks are very pretty, but the illustrations are wonderful. Yours.
I LOVE visiting your blog!
This drake is marvelous -
and, the train below, too . . .
Thanks for sharing your world -
Oh! they told me it could take two weeks for my glasses . . . I'm so excited . . They are gonna rock!
Happiest Day to You!
I particularly like the last photo. What a lovely surprise to have you call by and comment on the Book Review Blog, appreciated. :)
They are a beautiful duck and so is your picture. I had some on my blog recently but I could never get so close, they are just too wild.
Your photos are stunning. What a thrill to capture this wonderful Pintail with your camera. Well done.
Excellent shot of the pintails EG, love the watery reflections.. when they haven't got their derrieres in the air they're very elegant gliding across the water :)
Ah, to be a duck, to swim freely and leisurely in cool, wavy waters, floating along, as life goes by.
Pretty shots!

One good-looking Drake. MB
He's a handsome fellow and that rippling water in the first shot shows him off well.
Lovely shot!
they are such graceful things!
He is such a handsome fellow! I have never seen one in real life.
I ran through the strip pits last night...I do not know what has happened out there but there is hardly any wild life showing. I did not see one single short-eared owl. No deer. One pheasant, and a couple Northern Harriers. A handful of geese and some coots...it is a mystery.
I liked that rippily reflection and also the word wonky.. LOL
Fortunate indeed! I've never seen one and I think they are beautiful. Your photos show how handsome these ducks are.
This is a very regal and beautiful duck and they have arrived back in Northern Ireland for the winter.
Nice photos. Love the blueness of the water and the great reflections.
This duck is not that colourful, but I absolutely love them. They have such sophisticated look to them.
I've seen them down on the lakeshore in the spring and always like watching them. Nice to see them in their fall 'coat'.
Great photos - beautiful duck and reflections.
It is a handsome duck! Great shots!
What wonderful reflections and so nice of the duck to let you be a visiting photographer. Super shots.

I agree, he is certainly a handsome fellow. I have never had the pleasure of seeing a Northern Pintail, but I can hope ... someday, somewhere. Meanwhile, I can enjoy your gorgeous pictures :)

He is a handsome lad, EG. Manly! Or, rather, duckly!
How nice. I love the ripples and the duck sitting in them. This image is so clear and amazing, it almost looks posed. Nice job.
He's a handsome duck, and your photos are really great, terrific reflections!
You are absolutely correct....these birds are stunners:) And migration is finally arriving here in Tucson with all of the waterbirds! Crazy shows are going on around our waterways. Great shots on these beauties.
Gorgeous photos of this handsome duck!
Very nice series of images of the Pintail!
We're just beginning to get migrant ducks here in central Florida. Hope to see Pintails and lots of their friends soon.
