That first photo looks like it could have been a scene from Dr. Zhivago. :-)

Beautiful houses. The abandoned home has kind of a ramshackle charm to it.

I have a feeling that the inhabitants of No. 56 win the cosiness prize.

OK, I think you've got the range of housing options there. Each is charming in its own way.

That quote is fantastic, and that abandoned house somehow the most compelling of all. Happy 2014, hope it's off to a great start!

You had me cursing the rich until I scrolled down and saw my house. :) Thanks for the laugh.

A nice selection of homes, well done. I like the abandoned one best although it may leak in the rain and be cold in the winter.

I really like the first two; the rest not so much. But any house can be made into a home with the right ingredients. Lovely photos. The bird house is very cute. Wonder what "56" means.

Ruth Hiebert said...

That's quite the range of homes. The first two are beautiful, but too big for my taste.

Tis a lovely victorian house. The bird house is cute with a number on it - clever.

The first two look so pretty with the snow! I'm not sure if any birds can fit in the birdhouse though. :)

Such beautiful homes. Even the abandoned one has historic charm. Love the comment about today's home...where everyone waits for the car to come back. So true! Happy New Year to you.

The top two are very nice but there looks to be an awful lot of dusting and window-cleaning to be done. A charming selection.

I'd rather live in the Victorian house than the new one, though it is beautiful. I just prefer the older homes.
