'Sailboats" by Peter Macon
I have seen this sculpture next to the harbour in Rochester, New York many times, but the day I took these photos I was struck by the beautiful sunlight on the sailboats' sails.
Rochester - on the south side of Lake Ontario - was once an important port for commercial traffic. Now in summer it's a busy playground for smaller boats.
Same sculpture, the photo taken from across the harbour
Isn't it amazing how different the sculpture looks from the opposite side of the harbour?

Yes... light makes all the difference. Well done!
I think what's even more amazing is that your skies are blue. ;-)
a beautiful, albeit a cold looking day.
Fascinating sculptures !
It is a graceful sculpture. You really did get the best light in the first pic.
One would hardly believe it is the same sculpture; the play of light, and how you captured it, made all the difference!
Oh, I like this very much. It's not only physically attractive but the way it's done leaves the viewer with a sense of movement/motion. Nice shots, too!
It is a striking and lovely sculpure. You capture it well.
Like the sculpture from both sides. Your pictures are so clear.

I have never been to Rochester but I would love to see that. Hug B
I would never have dreamed they were the same one...but I like it.
It looks beautiful with that light, you caught it perfectly - striking no matter which image!
it looks like two different sculptures... i like both but i think I am leaning towards the second one... it is a truly beautiful sculpture.. i love the sails.
The different coloured sails totally change the look of the sculpture. I like the varied tones that show up in the first photo. It looks like a very old sailing ship.
Love sculptures and the blue sky is awesome ~ Wonderful photography!
this but, sometimes we need a reminder.

What a contrast.
very pretty creation.
I thought at first glance that they were 2 different sculptures. Love the light on the first one! Great capture.
I like this one, EG! Amazing how the different lighting changes the piece.
Cool piece. I like it. I could see smaller versions being made and having them in your home.
Such a nice sculpture for this spot.
The light sure makes a difference in the way it looks.
I love the sailboat sculptures. I used to have a sailboat and miss sailing although at this point in my life I'd be too chicken for some of the close sailing calls I had (unexpected major storms etc.).
Nice sculpture! You've captured it well.
Gosh, the difference is amazing! Nice illustration of how to take advantage of light. Love that sculpture.
You captured it well from all angles.
It is a surprising sculpture that I cannot but like (anything with sails will do for me!)
I would never have guessed that the second picture was the same sculpture. The light makes all the difference.
Rochester is a wonderful city. Love this sculpture, the light is very nice!
beautiful sculpture. i like both sides.
It is a pretty sculpture! Love the photos. Have a happy week ahead!
It is stunning! :)
Nice to see those blue skies!
Pretty impressive sculptures with the blue sky behind them.
Stunning sculpture.
Nice shots !
they look like to entirely different things. I love the top shot.
We stayed at the tower for a week or so. It was a volunteer thing. we learned the mountains and how to read the fire wheel but we were not really working but helpers so it was a nice time. MB
You were so in the right place at the right time.
I really like this one.
Oh, how beautiful!! You were definitely in the right place at the right time!! Wonderful boats and terrific captures as always, EG!! Thanks for sharing!! Have a great week!
it is a beautiful sculpture. the artist has captured the action of the wind and the light very nicely.
It is surprising how different the sculpture looks from the two directions. Your first photo is absolutely gorgeous.
The picture does look very different from the other side. I think the light had a deal to do with it. Wonderful shot
What a lovely sculpture!
Nothing to add to the above except that I like it too!
Great looking sculpture, and very appropriate!
It is a completely different sculpture from across the pond . . .
An interesting sculpture. Looks like they are ready to race away. - Margy
Wow...that's an amazing sculpture and your photos show it to fine advantage! Thanks for sharing...:)
Lovely. We don't see many nautical themed things in my land-locked state.
