TLC Needed

 Peeling picket fence

This fence needs help!  Grab a brush, a pail of paint and hurry over.

No thanks!
It may need more than a lick of paint by the look of it.

Patina, EG. That's patina. No paint required. ;-)

The fence in my backyard looks like that. But before I get a chance to paint it, I need to paint my front steps. And before I get a chance to do that ... so it goes.

Reminds me of Tom Sawyer.

Nice shot. Where is Tom Sawyer when you need him? :)

I think some sandpaper might be a good place to start. It would be nice all painted in white, but it has character as it is.

William Kendall said...

I was thinking the same thing. Tom Sawyer needs to con some of his friends into doing it.

You spotted this deterioration nicely.

It is a nice find and I wouldn't mind painting it. It needs a good sanding would be the hard part.

Now that is a genuine picket fence. Yes, I would bring some sandpaper, too, to be sure the new paint sticks. Lovely photos.

It's seen a lot in its time by the look of it !!

...either a sand blaster to remove all the old paint and get nothing but wood showing, OR get Tom Sawyer to white wash it.

even scraping first wouldn't help, i don't think! makes a great photo, though!

thanks, cameragirl!

Looks like it might be beyond help. It makes a wonderful photo though.

Greetings, EG. Hope things are going OK up your way! I'm back posting (at least intermittently)...and I appreciate your visit!

This poor fence needs more than a brush, methinks. A brush and some white paint would help, but sometimes one needs to start all over!

Oh yeah, of course, and I'll grab a scrapper too! Brushes in hand and ready to paint!

Agreed it need some TLC but it sure is charming the way it is! Love the yellow door! Cool click EG!

Oh I love a white picket fence---at least I think it is supposed to be one. MB

Nice shots of a old fence.

It does need some TLC, doesn't it. But, it's still pretty in my book.

It's the kind of chore that you tend to put off!

It does need help but I think I will let someone else do it. Great photos!

Might be too late for some of those pickets. I like that first shot, very pretty.

It looks like Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn are needed there! A good coat of paint and it will be great!

I think new timber may be required to correct this one!

Nice shots.
I too feel Tom Sawyer's absence. :)

Ruth Kelly said...

Oh my, it sure needs a good coat of paint.

Definitely needs some TLC!

I like the "weathered" look!

I think the peeling paint gives it character. But, if it was my fence, I'd have to do something. White fences are pretty, but a pain to maintain.

Lisa Gordon said...

I really like the peeling paint.
It gives it so much wonderful texture.

The fence could use a coat of paint but I kind of like the way it looks. I have a weakness for anything in disrepair. I find beauty in the ragged.

Very 'Shabby Chic' - somebody would love this fence to decorate a wall with! :) Karen

Just the perfect job for Tom Sawyer! I know it needs paint, but I also love it as is.

Been there, done that...HARD work. I sure do love that yellow front door on the house behind the fence!

Judy said...

Need someone with a scraper, or a power brush first!!! I love the texture of peeling paint!

Karen said...

Great shot, the fence needs a lot of work.

Stephanie said...

Fabulous shot! I like the rustic look of this fence.

Susan Anderson said...

Get Tom Sawyer over there! And Huck Finn, too.

;)

That fence needs some love.

Lovely weathered fence but I think it need a 'lick of paint'!

Haddock said...

Reminds me of Tom Sawyer and how he got his fence painted.

Brian King said...

Wow, that does need some attention! Great old fence, though!

Jack said...

A fence like this is so charming as a subject of photography, but it doesn't work with a well-maintained property.

Alica said...

A little (or maybe a lot) of TLC would go a long way! Picket fences can be so pretty!

It reminds me of the fence my grandpa built around his yard. Since it was wood he had to repaint it often.
