It's a three-day weekend in Ontario!
Today is Victoria Day, the day we here officially remember Queen Victoria. As you can see, a few trees are leafing out, but this holiday weekend has been quite cool. Traditionally many gardeners in central Ontario celebrate Queen Victoria's remembrance by planting annuals in their gardens. But NOT this year! At least for me! It's still too cold.
Hellebore in my garden
Hellebores are perennials, though, so they are OK with this year's cooler weather .

Your flowers are beautifully photographed. I like the horizontal fence lines in the top photo.
Beautiful scene and the flowers are very pretty.
Slow but surely things are beginning to bloom.
I don't think we'll be planting today, but we do need to weed dandelions and cut the grass.
Happy Victoria Day Hug B
Happy Victoria Day EG.. what better way to celebrate than with flowers :)
At first I read how many gardeners in your area celebrate Queen Victoria's resemblance by planting...
Hope you have a wonderful celebration and can take advantage of the long weekend! Beautiful flora!
It's a little chilly here too this morning. Your hellebore photos are a treat, as is that pretty first shot.
Beautiful flowers EG!
hellebore is really growing on me as i've seen it on several blogs. but that FENCE took my eye. :)
Such a beautiful landscape. The Hellebore is beautiful, don't think I've ever seen one.

Happy Holiday!!
Love that first scene. I want to be there. MB
Spring came early to us here in Berlin, so pretty much everything has bloomed already. Hope you have fun this weekend, even if you're not in the garden!
I noticed that also coming across the country that the trees had not begun to leaf out yet here back home Spring is in full swing. Not familiar with Hellebore but then I don't know my plants all that well either.
No frost here in the city but it was fairly cold Saturday night! I've seen lots of planting going on but I'm waiting at least another week. Love the flower shots, EG!
Your hellebores are gorgeous! I've never planted them and guess I've never seen them at the nursery either. At least it's sunny there. I wouldn't rush getting annuals out yet either. Enjoy your day.
Happy Victoria Day. Thank you for posting your photos of this beautiful flower. I'm not familiar with Hellebore, but will try to learn more.
Hope you are able to enjoy the day! The first photo is quite lovely and the blooms beautiful.
A beautiful scene and beautiful flowers. I'm trying to image how to celebrate Queen Victoria. It must be very subdued.
A beautiful scene EG, and the Helebores are lovely. Not planting here until next weekend.
Happy Victoria Day! Glad to see you have some flowers blooming.
Queen Vic would be proud of your beautiful hellebores!
I did not know what hellebore was...I am constantly amazed at what I DON'T think to look up and it all at the touch of my fingertips. It is pretty.
Lovely pictures. Too cool and also rainy to even be outside today.
Happy Victoria Day! Fab photos!
Such a beautiful flower.
"Hellebore" is an entirely harsh name for such a lovely flower. I hope you enjoyed your weekend.
Happy Victoria Day!

Love that winding river!!
Beautiful flowers. Hope you've enjoyed your long holiday weekend!
a beautiful little pond or streem. And a lovely flower too. :)
I hope you had a good Victoria Day. In New England, I have always thought that the time for planting annuals is May 15, so I assume that this is close to the right time up where you are. I didn't get back to New England until last night, so today was spent trying to catch up with the first plantings.
Lovin' the pastoral beauty!
=)
what a beautiful flower and enjoy your holiday.
