Enjoying Nature
Here in Ontario most children start the new school year on Tuesday. Even though it was a mostly overcast day when I took these photos, a few young'uns were out enjoying the fresh August air. These two stopped on this boardwalk to...
Painted turtle
watch the painted turtles sitting on logs below. When I got down to where the kids were, I decided to watch them for a while too, five on one log and four on another.
End of August bouquet choices
Another child was with her dad and picking flowers for her mom, she said. She had lots of wildflowers to choose from: Queen Anne's lace (Daucus carota) going to seed (actually, her bouquet has Queen Anne's lace still in flower), jewelweed (Impatiens capensis), lobelia (Lobelia siphilatica), blazing star (Liatris punctata) and goldenrod (Solidago).
FYI: The reason I include botanical names is because they always staay the same but common names change from region to region.

Another fine collection of photos Camera Girl. I enjoyed every one of them.
A veritable garden to choose from.
A fun tribute to the end of August! :)
I can see the joy in the little girl even looking at her back. beautiful hair and a great shot of her... i have asked several bloggers who show fields of wild flowers if they ever pick them and bring them inside. the answer is no. i would if i saw them
Wonderful end-of-summer activities for those lucky children. Love that top photo with the kids on the boardwalk surrounded by such lush greenery.
Always good to stop and watch the turtles - we have different species here, but they are fun to see.

Love the turtle and the little girl picking flowers! I was going to type that I was ready for August to be over but I think I'm not. I don't want to rush Fall!
Pretty way to fill an end of summer day. I probably saw one of the largest turtles this summer (outside a zoo) - but we were on our way to work so the hubbster wasn't interested in pulling off the road for me to photograph it.
sweet shots. :)
Turtles are a curious lot to me. A lot like retirement... just sunin'.
Lovely late August shots, what a thoughtful little girl!
School starts on Tuesday here too!
Another fine collection of fab images. Love that turtle!
love the queen anne's lace going to seed
Lovely shots of nature and color in all its glory.
Love these photos! Nature is full of marvels and it is always great to see the children having fun.
Pretty shots! The turtle seems to be taking things in stride.
Summer is drawing to a close; we all know what that means.
I do so miss the Ontario summers. But we have many of the same wildflowers here at least. Looks like you had a beautiful, flower-filled weekend!
What a lovely and tranquil image---the first one.
I like your collage and am glad you include the botanical names---those are the ones I learned. MB
BTW: I managed to smaller my header---Thank you. MB
I remember fondly those last few days before the school bell rang and the door opened - both as a child/student and as a parent/teacher.
Love the bouquet choices. I'd like one of each if you're making bouquets. :)
Fall is in the air. I like the bouquet flowers- all very pretty choices. Have a great week!
What a beautiful mosaic, and I just love your little turtle!
Oh, how wonderful! I was going to ask you what some of the flowers are, so I am very glad you told us!! It is totally charming with the little girl collecting flowers and the pictures of them in your collage. This may be my favorite post of yours! The grass by the fence is so tall!!! I guess it is the water around it that does this.
A lovely post today, EG!
I think this must be one of my favorite posts of yours!
Nice collection. Love the turtle !
Now great to just stop and watch the animals for a while. It's so peaceful. I'm glad you include the flower names because I'm just learning them!
That is a sweet shot of the little girl with the bouquet.
I love the collage.
Lovely colorful collage.
Enjoyed your end of August collage. I remember picking Queen Anne's Lace as a child. And what a wonderful shot of the turtle.
