Young Ricky

Young raccoon coming out of the brush and onto the path

This little guy (or gal) lives in a conservation area so as far as I know it isn't raiding anyone's garbage cans...yet.

Here the little ricky is looking for peanuts and birdseed.

But there are people around so the raccoon is a bit wary.

But wait! Is this a handout?

By gosh, it is!

I am linking to Saturday Critters HERE.

He (or she) is a beauty. Now I'm jealous because we don't have any over here!

Cool photos and closeups of the Raccoon..I am not sure if it is safe to handfed a wild animal like the raccoon.. Happy weekend!

What an adorable animal and amazing how used to people he is.

I have this fellow only in a zoo, never in the open like this.

Never seen a Raccoon in real life and would have loved to have it feed from my hand. Have a great weekend.

Hand feed.

That is a big challenge.

Quite cute, until he starts causing trouble!

We wouldn't dream of hand-feeding a wild raccoon here in Texas. They carry rabies!

I have come across some bold and scary raccoons when visiting Vancouver's Stanley Park.

Beautiful shots of this little scavenger. I don't think I'd get my fingers that close to the thing...they can and do bite! This one must see a lot of people, though.

I am in the "keep my distance from wild animals" camp here but those are some great close up pictures! Those little hands!

Great shots of the raccoon. Looks like he's used to humans already.

I was the animal control officer in our little town for a short while. I got bit by one removing it from a lady's garage. It died. I'm still here.

That's both one trusting raccoon, and a foolish person to hand feed it. Great set of photos.

A fine medley of photos to visually tell the story.

They are cute but can be so destructive!

Are those people crazy? We should not be feeding wild animals... and especially not raccoons. THey are a nuisance!!

Is that YOU? Is he in your yard or driveway?? Excellent pictures! So he comes around often enough that you have named him...

Such fun shots.

He's a cute critter. He's apparently willing to give up his natural wariness for a treat. I hope that doesn't get him in trouble.

Judith @ Lavender Cottage said...

You have to admit, they are cute. But, won't hand feeding encourage this young one to hang around?

Raccoons are such interesting little creatures. They are so animated sometimes, that I almost expect them to start speaking.

Wonderfull serie.

What a cute little fella, and seemingly very tame too.

Happy Sunday to you!

No handouts! Raccoons can fend for themselves just fine. Helping them to become dependent on humans is not doing them any favors.

Wow! Someone fed him by hand! I'm amazed the critter let them do that! :-) he or she is sure a cutie! Great pictures.
