Monarch with torn wings
Monarch butterflies are on their way south!
Late September in my gardens
Frost has landed on parts of East Gwillimbury but so far my yard is frost free. Blossoms still brighten my gardens, and a few monarchs and other butterflies are still stopping by my butterfly bush (Buddleia) as you can see in the largest square.
Moving clockwise: hydrangea, sedum, Japanese anemone, rose and coreopsis.

All summer I hardly saw any moths or butterflies. Now, all of a sudden there are many.
Your flowers are still looking good, they are the same flowers still blooming for me.;-) I wish I had Monarch butterflies visiting. I saw one blog where they repaired broken wings by gluing matching pieces on, I wouldn't have the nerve or skill to do that. I hope your frosts continue to hold off.

your garden is so beautiful in Sept i just looked up East Gwillimbury on the google map to see just where you are, 1410 miles by car and 2 hour 45 by plane.. now i see why you have so many beautiful water photos...
You are really the queen of butterflies. There are so many colorful ones you captured. I can really appreciate all the work that must go into catching all of them with your camera.

Just this week I've noticed a lot of butterflies too! No frost here.
Stunning photos! Each thing is beautiful and special! Quite a few butterflies have big bites out of their wings. Do you think it is from a predator chasing? I LOVE the light in the last picture!!
