Brick is a common construction material in south-central Ontario. Although many of the older farmhouses here were made of yellow brick (the colour of the clay found in our area)...

Bricks are also made of concrete. The church's brick may be coloured concrete, which is much harder than clay.

I think brick is really lovely no matter what colour it is.
Love to look at different types of houses. I live the red bricks, although the yellow ones are great as well.

Around here yellow bricks are known as "Cambridge bricks" as they used to be made around here, elsewhere in Britain red brick is more common. Although our yellow brick looks very smart when new it seems to be more affected by pollution and soon weathers to a dirty grey. All the examples you've shown look very smart.

I like the idea of bricks being made out of indigenous materials, giving the buildings in the region a sense of identity.

Concrete bricks? Who knew!
I like the brick, but I really love the windows you captured! I've never heard of concrete bricks..but I imagine they would be super strong.
I've always loved brick structures. Here, though, the brick is often a facade - over wood or plasterboard.
And I remember when we lived in Scottsdale some of the new houses were crumbling - they used Mexican brick which didn't stand up to the weather.

I like this series very much EG. Neat architecture, windows and the archway in the last photo and the diamond shaped windows shown beyond the other window. Great photos!

I think brick is so beautiful. My Mother in her later years lived in a brownish brick house---it was very nice. The people she sold the house to covered the brick with wood and boy did it change the very appearance of the house. Weird!

Both bricks are pretty in their own way. The windows are beautiful in the second picture! The church temple almost looks like a Jewish Temple, except for the triple crosses..
I don't think we have yellow bricks around here. Kind of unusual to me.
I have lived in many different areas in which various colored bricks are used. This is certainly and interesting post, and your photos, as always, are excellent!!
