Sometimes signs beg me to disobey. Sadly I usually do obey, though. Do you?

I'm of the mind that no beaches ought to be in private hands.

Very often there is a very good reason for a sign like that. it could be dangerous or birds could be nesting. great fence thought for this meme
That shouldn't be allowed on a beach. Beaches should be public places and not privately owned. Interesting fence shot.

Hmmm, what a confusing sign. It seems that if you went to the other side of the fence that you would be behind it.

I obey the signs. You just don't know exactly why it was put there. Margaret has made a very good point.
I obey them but i don't want to and it makes me want to go behind the fence in this one...
Mostly I obey and I definitely don't climb fences.

I guess the property owner really means business. The sign and fence sure spoil the view.
Yep, I obey usually...though sometimes when I'm hiking at parks and by the river it's hard to tell which side of the old fences is state property and which private.
I do have to agree with the notion that beaches should be public access, unless, of course, there's a bird or turtle nesting area that must be left isolated.
i'm with revrunner...sadly i watched anthony bourdain in jamaica and all the big resorts can own the beaches and make them private...there are only like 2 public beaches left...nowhere for the natives to go...how sad is that?
Perhaps that contraption beyond the fence is dangerous. Can't quite figure out what it is. In the case of possible danger I would keep out and here in Florida you could get shot trespassing, so I usually weigh the pros and cons before I fail to follow the instructions on a sign.
Not that many private beaches here EG, but I have to confess I don't always follow the rules, some shots are worth the risk :)

If I´m not wrong in Sweden nowadays beaches is always open for everybody to use. Unlss it is a factory or old property.

I know what you mean. I came across a beach with a similar sign when we went to Florida fencing the beach off neatly. Felt like walking down to the water and going around it. Felt like it but didn't ;()
I don't get private beaches. Heck, it's the ocean!

I always liked to think that the beaches belonged to all of us as a part of our country/state, but then I'm known as a "liberal" and a number of people would disagree with me, I'm certain. Terrific capture as always!! Enjoy your day!!
There is probably good reason for the sign. At least, the fence does not obscure the view.
If it says 'Private Property,' I most definitely obey. I'm a firm believer in property rights. Actually, I can't think of a sign I don't obey. Oh. maybe the one that said 'no photography' at Orchestra Hall. I did take a quick, non-flash photo of the stage before people started flooding in to the auditorium. So far, the police haven't shown up at my door.

I would obey but I sure don't like that sign! Isn't it the case that if you are walking along in the water, that is public property? The private part starts at the water's edge.

Wow I've never seen that before on a beach.
I'll obey though the words "Private Property" make me kind of grumpy about it. It says to me "Hey, it's MINE! Stay out!" Moreso than, "be safe, stay out."

It seems strange to me that the beach side of the sign would be private property. If that sign were here I'd think it had been turned around. I'd have to know a lot more about the area before I decided to disobey a sign like that.
In Texas? Yes, I obey the no trespassing signs.
But the water is on the other side!!
