Abandoned barn

 Log barn

In our travels around central Ontario,  my husband and I have discovered many treasures that may soon disappear. One of those is this old log barn, now abandoned.

 Long shot of barn

Although the barn is not in use, the land around it it still is. I walked up a bumpy dirt road to take these photos but clearly the road had recently been used by farm vehicles.

 Open door

I was curious. Would you be?  Yes, it was naughty but I confess I did venture through that open door.

 From inside

It was dark but not as much as I had predicted as...

Through the roof

lots of light was coming from above.

Poor old barn. It looks like it has been abandoned for a very long time. Great photo all around.

Very nice collection really. Not too good to see in this conditions but personally I very like such old buildings due to their special athmosphere. Have a great week.

Really great rustic shots. Barns always have a great charm in images.

Beautiful pics. I love the patina of the grey wood. Too bad they are not kept up but I think the metal barns are a lot less maintenance but they are not as photoworthy.

Here in Oklahoma the tall grass would be full of chiggers and ticks.

It's a little sad to see a forgotten barn, and yet so beautiful.

I would have been afraid to go in for fear that it would collapse on top of me!

I imagine that this was a magnificent looking place in it's early life. Now getting old and wearing out. I can relate to that.

This is, in some way, a shame as log structures are so unique and so beautiful. I think this is almost beyond hope, though!

Cool old barn. I would salvage some of the boards for furniture making.

Wonderful captures of that great, old barn! Don't you wish it could talk and share its history!! Like Judy, I can relate to "getting old and wearing out"!! Hope your week is off to a great start!! Enjoy!!

Sad to see but it looks like it is past the point of no return!

I definitely would have wandered in too! You can always apologize later. ;-)

Wow, I love the logs!

That must've been quite a barn in its heyday. Not often you see a barn built with logs like that. It's really beautiful even in its decaying state.

Great photos. The 4th one makes me feel very nostalgic as it reminds me of old, but serviceable and in decent repair, barns that I frequented when I was young. The one in the photo is falling apart, but 50 years ago it would still have had animals in it.

I applaud you for two things about this post, Tina:
1) your passion to find new things to post about
2) your courage to go into an abandoned, decrepit barn

The photos are exquisite!

Have a Beautiful Day!
Peace :)

Lovely old sad barn. A log barn at that. One wonders exactly how old it is and what stories it could tell. I got a little catch in my throat looking at it. Excellent shots.

What an amazing old barn! I'm not sure I've ever seen one constructed that way. It's a shame to see it dying. It looks as if it was stout and solid in its day.

Great series! I like the old wood. Soon it will no longer be there, but you have given it a monument in your photos.

We had a barn near where I live. It was in shambles like this.

Great takes.
