Female Mountain Bluebird (Sialia Currucoides)
This little female has created quite a stir in the southern Ontario birding community. She's rare here. In fact, it is said there has never been a Mountain Bluebird recorded here in this part of Ontario and this year there are TWO - one somewhere near Ottawa. Crazy weather patterns blew them off course, the pundits say.
Lovely from the back
So far this one has been finding plenty to eat so we'll see how long she stays here.
I am connecting to Stewart M's Wild Bird Wednesday HERE

Very pretty. Love the rear view.
Wow, if the bird is so rare you are fortunate to have spotted it. Great photos.
beautiful photos of a beautiful bird...I love the little flashes of blue on the body...
Well, that's impressive. You could preside over your local Audubon Society. I also think you should work on your coffee table book of Ontario birds!
what a find for you! We have lots of blue pinion jays that fly about 10 or 15 feet above the ground in large flocks among the pinion pines. I've always enjoyed watching them.
The Mountain Bluebird is a lovely looking bird. It seems that with shifting weather patterns all kinds of 'rare' birds are showing up.
Oh she's so sweet EG, it always fascinates me how these little creatures battle the elements to get where they need to go. You captured two wonderful shots of this rare little bird, well done!
she is absolutely beautiful. hope she will be ok out of her habitat
What gorgeous captures. I hope she manages to thrive during the Ontario winter. Looks to be doing well so far.
Those lines of aqua blue look stunning on the bird. Hope you get to see it again.
What a neat bird to see! I don't recall ever seeing one myself. Thanks for sharing your lovely photos!

You've recorded this visitor beautifully. I've seen male mountain bluebirds and been thrilled. I think it takes a good eye to identify the female and what a pleasure it is to see her! Those tail feathers are beautiful. (We had a northern shrike in our backyard the other day, a first for us.)
Beautiful!
The back view is especially lovely!
Have a great day!
