L/Alpabe-Thursday

 LIGHTHOUSE - Tobermory, Ontario

You'd be correct if you're thinking these photos were taken last summer and fall.

 LIGHTHOUSE - Collingwood, Ontario

What is it about lighthouses that so many people find so romantic?

This year, I hope to see and photograph many more lighthouses around the Great Lakes, and maybe I'll figure out why I find them so intriguing.

LIGHTHOUSE - Barrie, Ontario

I am linking to Jenny Matlock at Alphabe-Thursday HERE

I don't know about romantic, but they certainly appeal

These are awesome. Maybe they are romantic because it signifies someone coming home from a long voyage. Just guessing.

none of those look very tall, but I am guessing it's the angle of the photos?

From what I understand everyone who has ever even seen a lighthouse is fascinated by them. I have only seen them in pictures! Isn't that amazing? Someday ...

I wasn't aware that there were so many around!

This one is cute!
I don't find them romantic, I'm amazed at the way Fresnel lenses work and how they were built on rocks in raging seas...

These are wonderful! Each one of them is lovely.

That last one is really small, great variety here.

Hi Tina
Now I'm going to have to keep an eye out for the one in Barrie. I've noticed a few folks from out east have them for garden features in Sandy Cove.

I always like seeing the variety of architecture with lighthouses.

I think I'd say I find them attractive but not romantic. And I probably would not climb to the top of some of them...but would follow you around to get some good photos!

If you figure out why they are intriguing, you will be a lot smarter than me! Seems like most women love them....

I am one who finds lighthouses romantic! I think it is becaiuse the thought of a solitary man, or family, roughing it out on a remote island through all kinds of weather to keep the lighthouse lit, in days of old, sounds very heroic and noble. They are usually in beautiful nature settings, too, as the one you show here are.

Beautiful! They really are romantic. I wish there were lighthouses around here.

I love lighthouses and every now and again I think I should apply to do a stint of relief for a light house keeper here on the Island - people really do that!

Lovely post. I wonder if it's the locations as much as anything that make lighthouses intriguing. I don't know, but I like them too!

I agree with an earlier comment, I think it is the isolation, the mystery of life in a lighthouse that captures my imagination. These are great, looking forward to more.

While I don't live near any, I love lighthouses. I think it is because my dad is from Holland and it makes me think of him.

Lighthouse! Clever you! I didn't even think of this word for "L". I love the strong, clean lines of lighthouses...and the romantic feeling they create of times gone by.

Your images are delightfully lovely.

Thank you for sharing them.

These are beautiful lighthouses. I look forward to seeing the lighthouses you collect this summer.

They are intriguing. I don't know why I find them so attractive, but I love a lighthouse! I also love that they all have a different pattern of flashes and pauses, so that ships can not only tell they are close to land, but also find out exactly which bit of land it is! So cool!

I think everyone is attracted to lighthouses. These are certainly different from others I have seen. Great photos!!!

I think Susan hit the nail on the head with her comment "Maybe they are romantic because it signifies someone coming home from a long voyage."
