Autumn Sailing

Whitby Harbour in late September

Diehard sailors are still out and about even though it's now officially autumn.  It was late in the afternoon and this sailor had stayed out on Lake Ontario as long as possible before returning to harbour.

I like this fence (which I admit I have photographed many times) decorated with anchors.

I am linking to Friday Fences here.

I like the fence, too, but I would like the idea of a sail even better!

Cool fence, and the water looks so inviting. Not a sailor, but it does look like fun!

It looks like a good sailing day, I don't blame the sailor for wanting to catch every last minute on the water. I too like that fence.

This is a lovely shot...one which a person ought to look at when feeling stressed! It's been years since I've been on a sailboat but they can be lots of fun.

It must be fun to sail on Lake Ontario! I don't blame him for taking advantage of the nice autumn days before the ice takes over. Love the little anchors on the fence.

I think I would be out on the water as much as possible before it begins to freeze. The fence makes a nice frame for the pretty boat.

HI Yes I like the fence and would have loved to have been on the boat for a sail.

What a vivid blue, as seen THROUGH the fence.
It's a keeper!

The anchors are a wonderful design element of the fence. Beautiful blue waters too.

I would think it would be getting chilly up there! (I like the anchors, too)

The anchor fence can be so much more appreciated with a boat behind it. :)

The anchors certainly add a sense of character and place to this fence line. Great view of the boat.

Great photo! Love the anchors in the fence. It looks like he might have stayed a bit too long. Isn't his sail ripped? Or not...
