Tuesday morning was cool but peaceful at the pond. Then overhead...we heard Canada geese flying southward below the clouds. What a racket they were making!
They circled over the southern end of the pond, glided in to a few inches above the water and then...
plopped in.
The geese didn't appear to worry about the temperature, which was low enough for snow to stick to the trees but not so frigid that ice formed on the water. (My feet are feeling chilly as I think about the geese paddling around,)
Perhaps these fowl plan to winter here (a few do). Or maybe the pond was just a stopover, a brief morning bathing area before heading to "balmy" Lake Ontario. Brrrr.

Beautiful sky full of geese. Recently we have been treated to the sound of geese honking as they fly by. I don't know where/if they land locally.
Darla
These are great photos. Those geese cheat, you know. They carry their own goose down!
I LOVE the noise they make!! Something so joyful about it
Both scenes are wonderful, the second one is my fave. the dusting of snow and the big guys taking a dip ;)
Lovely pair of photos that perfectly capture the feeling of early winter.
At least I once again, kept from blaming y'all for all my coldness! Love the photographs with the geese! Terrific captures! We have the wimpier geese down my way. lol!
You have a hardy lot of fowl there. Our CG just wander around in public grassy areas, parks and fields eating and distributing the by product. Can you belive I am being so couth? I don't know what has comeoverme. :D
Beautiful sky watch photos, but then you already know I like the outdoors and wildlife. The snow on the trees completes the images, but I am in no hurry for snow here.
Wonderful photos. I like the minimal coloration of the first one. I love to hear the noise they make.
The geese are a beautiful addition and the water does look cold! Happy skywatching!
Wonderful photos! I am very enchanted with such beauty!
You pictures are so beautiful. May I use them for my computer background?. I love watching the birds. We don't get too many Canada Geese here in the Valley although Seattle has year-round residents that live in the parks. MB
Indeed you may, MB. Glad you like the Canada geese.
So interesting and beautiful set of photos. Gorgeous captures!
By the way, they make me cold just looking at them:-)
Happy sky and bird watching:-)
Wow - these are gorgeous photos. I love the sound they make - just for a while. Then I'm good with them flying on!
Beautiful photo's.
Looks COLD!!!
It is snowing here now, light accumulations expected....I guess winter is going to arrive.
Take care and thanks for sharing your pics with us.
Very pretty Ms. T.Guide. I think those geese were catching a little rest on the way to our house for the winter (Texas).
Happy SkyWatching.
..
How marvelous! Except for the cold part! I wonder if any of the geese were 'my geese'. They come every spring and migrate in the fall to who knows where! I sure miss them when they're gone!
Or even making there way here. Lvely natural shots.
Beautiful scenes EG. I too wonder how the geese/ducks can swim in cold lakes without freezing! I'm happy I'm not a water fowl :D
Happy skywatch!
Geese calling in the Fall; poetry to the ear. Your pictures poetry to the eyes!
EG: What a great shot of the geeese coming in and landing.
Your right, the camera is by my side most of the time.
Those are wonderful shots. I love the way you can see the snow in the trees and the geese in flight.
Geese and more geese - as you said, "great minds" - how could it be anything else!! These are really wonderful!
Great shots, especially with the geese. have a great weekend.
Lovely pictures I can even imagin the geese honking. Thanks for sharing.
I love geese, and your wintry shot of them is wonderful. It's making me shivver as I sit here looking, however!
The top one is so landscaperly (I know that's not a word, but if I use it enough...). Someday, maybe I'll return to it and paint it.
Congrats on award from Mary the Teach, a great honor!
Love your geese photos. My SWF geese were at a distance, so I'm enjoying seeing the closer views of yours and the pond/trees area. Love that dusting of snow.
Thanks for stopping by.
These are wonderful photos,It`s so beautiful with the snow on the trees, and the geese makes it all perfect!
Great Nature shot.
Beautiful landscape and sky.
I see a sprinkling of snow on the trees.
It's pretty chilly here in Florida too, so I am acclimatising myself for the return to Ontario.
Those geese make such a racket when flying overhead!
These are such lovely photos! What a treat to see!!
Lovely sky-photos. The geese is so beautiful and I love the sound of them. The photos is perfect! Love it:)
Congratulatinon with the award! You deserved it:)
Lovely SWF photos, I adore Canada Geese, and love to see them flying overhead and honking. I always wonder where they are heading. Your captured some beautiful birds here, and the scenery is awesome.
Wow Mary I just got my skywatch up. I am always late.
Wow you got a wonderful picture of the geese landing.
Everything is simply lovely and so peaceful.
I am in Oklahoma and the geese are arriving in droves for their winter visit.
My SWF is here.

I do so hope you can visit it as well!
Thanks and happy SWF:-)
Great captures of those crazy Canucks diving into the freezing water. Just like a goose to o something like that when they see such a lovely pond!
A dramatic sky watch capture. You caught them at just the right moment!
First I was lucky duck getting that shot of them flying over the water. Then it's lucky goose I guess getting splash down. Wonderful!
Visiting your site never disappoints. Well done
Cheers!

Beautiful photo, watching geese come in that slow motion plop is an excellent thing to see.
Great scenes! Lovely etchings of snow on the trees. Yes, I always wonder how the waterbirds can tolerate the COLD water! Happy SkyWatching!
Beautiful photos! Love the 2nd one:)
Mine is, HERE. See yah!
Great shot! :)
Those geese do make quite a racket, don't they? They're fun to watch.
I'm kind of cold looking at the snow on the trees, too.
I always love shots with geese. Yours are just beautiful. The scenery is so inviting especially when we're almost snowbound!
Have a wonderful Friday.
Beautiful! All the elements that make a wonderful winter image - the snow dusted trees, the geese, the cold looking pong - lovely!
These photos are really wonderful!
This gets me excited because my family is going to Bosque del Apache Wildlife Preserve this weekend to celebrate the Festival of the Cranes.
There will be many bird species, but lots of geese, ducks and cranes, especially.
Happy Sky Watch Friday!

What a wonderful sight! Beautiful photos - the frost and snow look very pretty.
Great photos combining nature at play and our sky watch theme. Thanks for sharing with us all.
Great shots of the geese, always amazes me that they don't seem to feel the temp.
Congrates on your well deserved award
Fantastic pictures, nature and sky look magical. Thank you for your visit and greetings from Croatia.

You're right, this is winter. It may be cold, but that sky is gorgeous.

Here, a wonderful sight of the beginning of winter! Watching them plopping in the pond makes me shiver.
Nice to see them - they left here "ages" ago.

I really am enjoying your scenes with the snow in them...even if it isn't much they still are beautiful!
i love your shots and the geese are icing on the cake...

have a good weekend.
I'm always curious to know if the geese are as loud as everyone says they are. The scenery is absolutely beautiful.
Fantastic photos! Really GREAT!
Yes, they make me feel cold too when I think about swimming in that freezing water.
I always thought they went south earlier than this, but we're still seeing large flocks traveling through as well.
Oh what wonderful photos! Really beautiful! Have a happy weekend. :)
A beautiful picture! We still have geese around here too. This afternoon on the bus we saw a really big flock of them getting ready to land on Silver Lake. Makes me wonder where they find shelter in the winter.
I took a look at your Sepia Scenes photo while I was here. That is too funny!
My skywatch post is here Hope you can stop by!
Defnitely a WoW photo! Totally gorgeous! It should be in a calendar! Have a great weekend.
I love the geese, beautiful sky. You have a very nice photos!
