Walking in the York Regional ForestThis photo was taken last week. Here the path is wide and gets plenty of sunshine, so last week it was clear of snow. But further into the trees where there's less sunlight the path was still covered with slippery ice. The forest hadn't wakened to spring yet.
Soon, though, spring flowers will decorate the area underneath the deciduous trees. I can hardly wait! And, YES, I will be taking photos.

Looks wonderful. Our Golden would love to walk a few miles (as would we) on that trail!
We have forest trails to walk through here too but most of our trails are wide paved areas which is a real blessing to those in wheelchairs or scooters or even us older folks who walk and need a steady step.
I look forward to more photos of your forrest.

My first thought was that there is no snow. Looks like the perfect place for a walk.
There are few things as simple and yet so enjoyable as just taking a walk in nature! Personally, I love having a dog by my side, but if not, then I'll just enjoy listening to the sound of the birds. That's spring to me (in Sweden): hearing the birds again after a winter of silence.
Looks like a pleasant walk, even if the weather isn't quite spring-like yet.
Looking forward to seeing those spring flowers. Still looks cold right now.
Bet the dawg is enjoying that walk as much as the humans are!

Wow, and I thought when the sun is up the snow goes away...great back shot :D I would enjoy walking there too!
Beautiful shot. It is amazing how even the pine trees look so much more colorful when spring comes.
We met our first critter on our walk through the woods last week, a garter snake (scared the he... out of me!)and there is only little bits of snow now. With the rain of the last two days and no frost it will probably be gone by now. Nice photo and thanks for sharing.

We all seem to be virtually walking this week. I will leave you to your lovely ramble, with camera of course.
The hint of spring in the sunshine and thawed places and the remnants of winter in others must make that a beautiful and memorable walk.
EG: Spring is fighting to stay but we had snow today. I await the greening of the trees.

I can just see my Jake galloping back and forth on that path! I know what you mean about ice under the trees, though. That is what we have here. But soon there will be spring flowers!!

I love walks through York Regional forest... so nice to see that the snow is melting.
But I still have some hard icy patches in my back yard. The weather can't quite decide what to do about them!
