In memory of the chivalry
of our men and women who

humanity against aggression
THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE

Very nice photo!!
lovely thought, and nice shot.
Nice capture -- so glad you included the words so we can understand what the statue represents.
Great statue and great sentiment and I applaud whoever decided this should be built...
The way you composed the picture really brings out the meaning of the statue!
What a beautiful statue and original take on the hands theme!
EG - where in Peterborough is it? I don't recall having seen it before.
Beautiful sculpture. There are quite a number of lovely interesting sculpture for the theme this week.
Enjoy the weekend.
Antjas,
The statue is in a park across the street from what I think is the city hall and a large stone church. I should pay more attention when I take photos, shouldn't I?
Looks like a beautiful statue - and a wonderful gesture to those it represent!
And thanks for nice comment! Just to fill you in; I wrote about doodling during all the boring meetings I have at work.....And they are my doodles. Lot of meetings you see! :)
Thanks EG. When you lived in Hingham, Sudbury was probably still just a small farming community. It's really grown in the last 20 years or so. It's not at all like your Sudbury. Hingham is beautiful by the ocean. I have to admit I've had never heard of EG before I visited your blog.
Perfect photo of a beautiful statue.
Great photo and beautiful words.
Wonderful tribute. MB
A wonderful choice for Hands EG.

Happy weekend!
Ah! What a great shot for the theme! Very nice!
That is a beautiful statue.
One of my summer past-times is going out to small communities and photographing cenotaphs. So many of the small town WWI ones are stone, often marble, and crumbling. When you think how many young men from small towns went off to war and didn't come back, it is sad when you see them neglected and damaged.
What is worse is the modern crime of stealing statuary and selling them to scrap yards!
Powerful photo EG. I'd love to see the statue itself. And I wouldn't mind visiting Peterborough in general. See the birthplace of Cory Stillman and catch a Petes game... sounds like a great day to me!
Handsomely done!
Hey, give me a hand, will you?
what a strong expression the statue has.
excellent! i love the caption.
Great shot!
So true.
This is a lovely picture and a wonderful tribute. The words do make it so meaningful... we must always remember to be grateful for those who came before.
Mine is up here.
Gorgegous shot of this statue, I just love the angle! :)
Great work!
Mine is up too!
Have a great weekend :)
Excellent shot! Nice scuplture, too.
Fantastic picture!
Brought two thoughts.
One: "it stops here" (inspired by Edmund Burke's immortal words "All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing," I guess).
Two: "Talk to the hand"
Yeah, I don't know where that last one came from...
wow, great shot! love the perspective.
