Recurring Theme/ Sky Watch
A couple of weeks ago, Tarolino of Helsinki Daily and Luontovuosi 2009 challenged me to think about recurring themes in the photos I take for this blog. Yes. I'm just getting to this NOW. Sorry, Tarolino, but I've had a busy couple of weeks and I have not been as attentive to this blog as I would have liked.
Well, one theme has got to be FENCES, right?
I love their lines, the way they weave their way through fields to mark property lines and to define pastures. And I''m intrigued by the shadows they cast especially in winter...
and how they make marvelous backdrops for gardens.

I like both pictures...
there is just something about fences, isn't there?
Love the old cedar fences, such a wonderful texture and colour.
Very nice respons and very nice motif for your reoccuring theme. Must say I had not payd attention to your fancy for fences before. Just admired your wonderful photographs of anything and everything. Like these two for example. The sky and the scene is wonderful but the daffodils and the bit of fence is totally dreamy.
We've had but sunshine the last weeks. Rain would be needed to make everything really get green with speed as it's too dry now.
I always love your photos! Fences is a great theme!
Thanks for your comment on the tragedy that happened in my country! Unbelievable and unexpected.
Beautiful photos.
I love fences. I love lines and angles and they often produce wonderful shadows
your sky here is stunning!
I like your fence photo's and in particular the winter ones where the photo is nearly black and white.
Darla
Both photos are superb. I especially like the muted colors in the first one...very calming and soothing...
They are also composed well and sharp!
Fabulous photos.
These are very nice... I have some great shots of fences and gates and of course benches... I am now always on the look out... I do like your barns as well.
What a serene pastoral scene. You almost make me want to move to Canada!
That sunset is so soothing!!
One way of tracking recurrent themes is to set up a tag called 'fences.' Every time you post a fence, you give it that tag. You can set one up called 'daffodil' as well. Then you add a tag cloud to your blog. If the word 'fence' shows up large, that's one of your recurrent themes!
I really love the daffodils with fence. Love any photo of white flowers that comes out well (as I am often taking washing out white flowers and struggling to get the white nuances captured).
Love skies and have always been fascinated by fences -- for whatever reason?? Maybe it is the texture and colors. This is a great post and your photos are delightful! Love the soft colors of the skies! Happy SWF!
Two more striking photos. The fence is complimented by the daffodils and I love the weathervane!
Your first capture is soothing and structured. Lovely.
The second gives texture and the softness of the flowers.
Have a great weekend.
Wow, these are both fantastic photos. I so love old barns, so the top one is a favorite, and the sunset is gorgeous. But I also love daffodils, so you've got me torn on which is my top fav! :)
You're a marvelous photographer.
These are wonderful. I like fences, too.
Fence watching? :D I love the worn down texture of the fence in the second shot against the bright daffodils. Thanks for stopping over earlier, too.
Oh, I love the daffodils! I have a fence fetish too. I just love the appeal of a fence line.
Realy lovely photoes:)
What a wonderful light and in a beautiful surrounding - I love your picture!
oh i love the daffodils along the fence line...beautiful shot...enjoyed you shots very much ^..^
fantastic!
fences do add nice backdrops and photos - I agree!
I love your fence photographs. I too love them, but there aren't enough around here for me to create a series.
Both shots are great! But I fell for the first - the old house, the fence (yes - I love your fences!) and that pale and lovely color on the sky! Peaceful!
Gorgeous photos! Love the fences and daffodils. One can just watch the sunset and be awed by its beauty. Happy eyes.
:)
Beautiful sky and I love your fences. You photograph them so well. Both of these shots are so lovely and the daffodils are such a cheerful, delightful sight.
Beautiful photos.
Visit my Sky Watch @ Now and Then
As always great shots.
Have a nice weekend.
Regarding the forsythia - You likely have one of the old, original bushes. They are not quite winterhardy here in Ontario. The cold kills the buds that are not protected by the snow. The Experimental Farm developed ones that can tolerate the cold. Look for one with a variety name like Northern Gold, and you will be able to have blossoms all over it, too.
Yes, I love the fences in your photos too! The sky is jsut gorgeous also!!!!!!!
Dontcha just love a challenge. Of course you handled the challenge fantastically.
That is one perfect shot you shot. Beautiful. Love the pink colors. =) Hope you have a wonderful Friday.
I love fences also, EG. I think they are wonderful in nature pictures. Love your daffodils. Mine are gone now--so I will enjoy yours.
I'm extremely busy now--getting ready to leave on vacation on Sat. morning. If I don't comment as much, please forgive me.
Hugs,
Betsy
wow this post is breathtaking!
You are good indeed! Well done!
Have a great weekend dear friend!
We are going to take a time travelling around so that, see you next week!
God bless you
Léia
Love those fences...and the pastel sky in that first shot is breathtaking!
Gorgeous shots both of them! Of course I love barns and beautiful skies, and I can almost smell the Daffodils!
Happy SWF
Yes, fences, barns, and flowers all make good subjects. Beautiful sky shot with the fence defining the horizon, and the daffodils fit nicely under the fence rail, too.
Great photos, a wondeful skywatch post.
Love the array of spring colors in that sky!
EG: I do love your barn and fence with a wonderful sky behind. Those were a wonderful capture and the daffodils are really pretty.
Wonderful photos, the first is very peaceful! Happy SWF!
I love to get fences into photo's and this are both great shots.
The barn is just in the perfect place against the beautiful sky. And to the challenge, you did a good job.
If fences are a recurring theme, you certainly make them works of art. These are very beautiful.
And oh what a beautiful job you do with those fences. Both photos are lovely but the first one is my favourite....the soft gentle colour of the sky and the defined lines of the fence and barn in contrast. Beautiful composition. Thank you so much for sharing.
Smiles from Haida Gwaii.
You always have beautiful captures. Love the barn and the fence is awesome as has alot of charactor. Have a great weekend.
Smiles Barbara
Excellent views of sky and flora.
We should all have to reflect on our recurring themes! How fun, and meaningful!!!!
Gorgeous photos:)
Very cool--you are a genius!!!
Both are beautiful shots. MB
I love photographing fences too...they are great subject matters. You've captured another one that is fantastic along with the pretty sky...Hope to see more of your recurrent theme!
Fences, benches .. I love them both .. but I totally love your walking companion waiting to make sure you are following ... Happy Weekend
Extremely nice and interesting details to your photos! Wonderful colors.
Both images are stunning! Great photography!
When you get you photo up to post .. click on the title of it and copy that .. then go to Sky Watch HQ and under your name is an old link, simply highlight and delete it and put in the new link to the new photo!
I like fences too, especially worn ones, those who have been and seen times gone by. The daffodils around the fence are gorgeous. Love that spring scene.
I love old barns. And the old weathered fences, as well.
Both photos are just perfect.
~Lisa
