Pefferlaw River

Fence and bridge over Pefferlaw River

Pefferlaw is a community a few miles north of East Gwillimbury. Last weekend - although the weather had been cold - the rushing water had kept ice from forming over the top of the river.

Another view of the bridge

It may be totally covered in ice today, though, because the Arctic sent us some extremely cold air yesterday. Brrr.

I am linking to Good Fences HERE.

I guess you will have to go back for some ice photos of the same scene. It will probably look very cool and cold.

It has been incredibly cold. Good for you getting out there.

Not a day for a paddle!

No ice or snow here but the chill is here today although we have bright blue skies. Your shots are great with the snow on them and I love that bridge.

Beautiful wintery shots of bridge and river :) Yes, please go back there when it's covered with ice, must be some great pictures! But, please don't slip and fall in it :))

You can almost hear the water rushing by. I wonder who lives in that house.

I had to go out and check a gate at 6 a.m. today (before daylight) and the 21 degrees outside made me feel like I might be in Ontario!

Very pretty shots. I've seen the place name on the map and on direction signs, but I've never been there.

Well done on braving the weather for these gorgeous shots EG, I do love an arched bridge. Bet it will look magical iced over.

The perspective and composition of your photos is just outstanding! I absolutely love the old boxcar (yesterday) and the first bridge photo today. Great work! John

It's a beautiful bridge and looks like a beautiful community. I'm trying to picture it in the summertime! Kind of a strange name, though!

You're hearing Jingle Bells? Does this happen all the time or only at certain times of the year? :)

The second photo is my favorite. What a beautiful bridge and great composition! Makes me not even mind the snow (for a while).

Nice solidly built bridge over that cold, cold stream ... and the fence is very interesting as well as functional. I wish my country would get busy and fix or rebuild our bridges ... I sure wouldn't want to fall into that cold water :) Nice post EGCG ...

What a pretty place!! I would also love to see a picture of it in the spring, maybe in each season.

Lovely shots. And that bridge is very lovely too.

We were thinking alike here today with our bridge/fences. - I really like that 2nd photo.

I was wondering about that last night, if our local creek would freeze with the windchill being minus 30.

These are lovely images of the bridge and landscape.

Thanks for stopping by to comment on my fences. I hope the new year is starting out well for you!

Pretty little bridge style. And love the touch of enigmatic blues in the water beneath.

Love this! You just have to wonder where the water will take you!

Seems like it's cold all over the north. We live in the northeast USA and they say that the high for the day will be 7 degrees F. which according to the calculator I've seen on line is -13 or so C. Brrrrr! We are currently in Florida where people are complaining about the cold. It's about 4 degrees C. Seems pretty balmy to me. That's a beautiful bridge scene!

The second photo is gorgeous, so wintry. I really like the curves in it.

I love the curves in the second photo and the wintry feel of both.

I want snow and a bridge!!!

Both the river and the bridge are lovely. Many of our more modern bridges aren't as graceful.
It looks as if the river's giving it a good try to freeze at the edges. That cold blast may indeed finish it off. Stay warm!

i can relate to the cold weather you're having as it was 0 degrees here this morning and was only supposed to be a high of 7. personally i can't wait for warmer weather... love your photos. have a great night~

We had -25 overnight.

It is a nice little bridge. To my eye, the second photo is the better one. Stay warm, EG.

Hi Tina,
Very beautiful winter scenes, but I know it is cold as heck. The same arctic is hanging out in our neck of the woods too, I reckon; for, we are in the teens overnight and the high today was 30 deg. F.

Stay warm!

Peace :)

I always like bridges so it's good to see one where care has been taken to make concrete more interesting. The road bridge in the town near where I live was buit originally in the 1410.
