Cardinals

 Female cardinal

Although both a female and male cardinal live in our yard somewhere, I rarely see them except this time of year. They can be amazingly secretive, especially the female. Sometimes I see the male gathering food for the young'uns in late spring but I think the female is already off starting a new family...perhaps with a new lover even.  How scandalous! LOL

Male cardinal

Hello, I usually see the cardinal late in the day, it is almost dark. They are usually shy birds. Great shots. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Have a happy weekend!

They are just soooo beautiful. The female is as beautiful as the male, I have come to think.

These are such great shots! We don't have these birds on the West Coast. I had to go to the desert one spring to see them on the wing. The other birders with us couldn't figure out why it was so exciting to see cardinals.

Oih... what a beautiful bird.

E G - beautiful shots as usual - I think the cardinals are so gorgeous - the nearest bird with plumage that colour in the UK is our bullfinch I get one on our feeders now and again - Jane and Bluey UK x

Beautiful images! Now you have me wondering if cardinals are birds that mate for life. LOL

I do love cardinals, and I rarely see the females for some reason. Or maybe they are just less noticeable. It would be cool to capture a pair together, wouldn't it? Next to impossible, I should think, though if anyone could do it, you would be the one.

=)

I've never seen a cardinal but my mom spent some time in North Carolina and never forgot their beauty. They became her favorite bird. Great shots.
