Summer Rain/Our World

 After a soaking rain

Although Central Ontario has not been as hot and dry as other places in North America this summer, it has been warmer than usual and - until last Friday - we needed rain. Well we finally got some. A lot, in fact.  If you look closely at the dirt road in the foreground of the above photo you can see a narrow but deep gully. Road crews and city workers were busy this past weekend.

 Foggy under threatening skies

The sun was trying to peek through the clouds at my back.

Raindrops still dripping off wild apples

The tree on the left of the above photo is an apple tree. I bet the horses that live on the farm will be eying them soon.

Beautiful scenes from your world. The horses and pasture are pretty. Great shots, have a wonderful day.

The horses are just biding their time till it's 'apple-pickin' time. For sure!

We certainly got more than our fair share of rain over the past 3 or 4 days. That rain on Friday night was like standing under Niagara falls! (Not that I've ever done that.... just imagining it. :-))

We could use a cooling rain in our parts too!

Some beautiful scenes here. Isn't rain wonderful? It gets so hot here this time of year, but we usually get a thunderstorm or two in the afternoon which cools things down nicely.

Love those wild apples. If the horses don't get 'em, I will!

I wish those of us in my part of eastern Ontario had got some of that rain.

Your photos look so fresh especially love the apples.

What an absolutely idyllic scene at the bottom with the horses grazing! The rain is so refreshing and looks so lovely dripping off the apples that animals will be munching on soon, I suspect.

Glad you finally got your rain! We've had the opposite situation, too much rain until the last week or so when we've finally got our sunshine!

Jak deszcz był potrzebny, to dobrze, że spadł. Z pewnością rośliny były zadowolone. Pozdrawiam.
As the rain was needed, it is good that fall. Certainly, the plants were happy. Yours

We have had about two inches of rain so far in August, about half an inch more than the whole month of July. Also it is cooler, and the grass has started to grow again. Yes, horses love wind fall apples.

What a pretty farm. Glad you had some rain. We finally had a small storm this morning, but the actual rainfall was negligible.

Good you got that needed rain. Love the wet apples. You live in a beautiful part of the world.

Wonderful series of captures. That first shot could be a water colour painting! and a delicious shot of the apples. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful shots. Rain is such a welcoming release. We in the great PNW must love the rain because we have so much of it. Now we haven't had any in all of August which seems strange. We are still green thank goodness. Love the bright greens in your pictures. The horses are enjoying the weather too. MB

Photos full of adventure! :) So full of summer and joy! I think the horses love it there, and I can just guess how even more glad they will become when facing the fresh looking apples! :)
What a big lovely farmhouse!
And I love the misty look, especially on the last photo here! :)

Have lovely August days! July at my place has been rainy and quiet cold. I haven't even gone to swim in the sea this summer!

Lovely shots - such beautiful skies... Is there anything as delicious as summer rain after a spell of too hot weather?

Lew said...

Beautiful country you have there! We are below average in rain and above average in heat, but there has been enough rain to keep the fields green.

This is a beautiful snapshot of your world--the pastoral scenes refreshed by recent rains. And I'm especially fond of your apple macro--may need to steal that subject for next week. Glad you spotted them before the horses.
