Mid January

More than just overcast skies!

Well, it's true the sky is often overcast here in January...but not ALWAYS. This week has seen a mixture of snow, rain, wind, cold and "January Thaw."

Largest square: proof that I was not the only crazy person out taking photos this afternoon.

Moving clockwise: icicles on rocks, snow on spruce trees, farm with pink sunset as backdrop, ice created by spray from HUGE waves (Lake Ontario) and a snow plow (need I say more?).

I am Linking to Mosaic Monday HERE.

Please visit Michelle at Rambling Woods for more NATURE NOTES.

The kind of weather that is best viewed via someone else's photographs - preferably someone as skilful and artistic as your good self.

Beautiful shots, particularly the ice on the rock face.

Glad you were the one taking pictures of that frozen spray - it is awesome. Bet it would be mega dangerous to get too close though.

I don't think you're a crazy person at all... just very brave. And very kind to share your beautiful images with all of us.

Wonderful wintry scenes. The ice waves are amazing.. We are expecting another cold week here, I am sure snow too. Right now, I would enjoy a warm Bermuda high! Have a happy week!

These are all such beautiful shots. I love the icicles on the rocks. I wish we'd get some snow. Last year we didn't get any until February so there's still hope.

The red of his jacket matches the lighthouse so this shot just pops. Love your collage, they are a very nice assortment of shots. Very pleasing to the eye!

A picture says a thousand words. Great mosaic of your January weather. I love the farm scene. The wind has come up here tonight and the temperatures are dropping.

There's something wonderful about this time of year, as I have had the same time of winter as you, although yesterday and today are like our first thaw days this month! Great photos, especially the whipping waves of ice!

Wow- amazing photos! They literally gave me goosebumps when looking at the snow and ice. HAHA! Love the icicle photo. Here in So California we are having our annual Santa Ana WInds and temps in the upper 70's and low 80's. Would love to have a bit of cold! Have a nice week :)

I would be the SECOND crazy one out in that cold but spectacular landscape, snapping away, hoping my nose doesn't snap off, in the process!

Beautiful photos!

Winter certainly gives us lots of photo opportunities, it's not always too cold to go out with the camera. But I haven't done very much outdoor photography recently, you are inspiring me, I'll have to get out there again! But the next couple of days are forecast to be very cold, so I might wait until next week!!!

I'm sitting here bundled in my robe with a warm cup of coffee and this still gave me the shivers. I don't know how y'all do it. Love the trio of trees and the soft morning light behind the farm.

Amazing - the many faces of winter in the cold!
I can't imagine icicles so huge!!!
A wonderful shot with the lighthouse, fences, and the sea.
We wore those shoes when we were in France one winter - we thought it was fun - well we were just visiting!

It was actually cold here today. The sidewalk was slippery on my way to the German course. I can live without snow though! :)

Some nice photos. We haven't had snow here in England yet! Though it's been cold enough to snow. Feel like I'm in hibernation with staying in so much!

Thank you. Love love, Andrew. Bye.

Looks like we're going to get our first significant snowstorm tomorrow. We'll see if I'm as adventurous as you about getting out in it. :-)
