Late August

Sunflowers reaching for the sun of late summer

Who can resist smiling back at sunflowers?

A white - not pink - bull thistle

This is not the silky seeds of a thistle but the actual colour of the blossom. I confess I have never seen (or perhaps noticed) a white bull thistle before.  Have you?

 Bee collecting pollen

This bee doesn't seem to notice the colour isn't any different from the purplish-pink blossoms on neighbouring plants.

Cabbage white butterfly

I'm still on the lookout for butterflies but I'm mainly seeing cabbage whites and a few skippers. Where are all the rest?

I have never seen a white thistle. Your close ups are great. I have just added a post for the Scavenger Hunt after seeing your post today. Can you check mine to see if I did it OK please.

You are not the only one...I have never seen thistle in white before. I did notice some the other day that was more pink than purple. But not even close to white. It is beautiful. And I LOVE the sunflower shot.

The white thistle is a new one on me! Sure is pretty, though. Sadly, I haven't seen many butterflies this year. I sure planted for them, yet they didn't show. :( Your photos are so beautiful, especially the Cabbage White.

Perfect sunflowers. Now if I had a photo like that one and photoshop, I would put my grandkids faces in the center and send it to them!

Same over here. Cabbage whites are in abundance but not much else in any numbers. Beautiful sunflowers.

That is indeed an unusual thistle. The bee seems quite content with it though.
