Saturday the Friends of the East Gwillimbury Library hosted a garden tour and - since I am on the Friends' board - I had a part in organizing it. One of my "jobs" (Truly it was not a job but a pleasure) was to be a greeter in one of the loveliest of gardens on the tour - actually two gardens, a sunny one in the front yard and a shady one out back.
The mosaic is a taste of what you would have seen if you had visited Sue's gardens.
Sue's backyard retreat
It was a warm day but the backyard was significantly cooler than the front.

Thanks for the close up of that gorgeous butterfly, your collage is wonderful. This place has so lovely energy, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing this beautiful garden with us. I belong/ed to a Garden Club while in South Africa and even hosted a day in my garden in 2009. Have a great day. Jo
The backyard retreat would suit me just fine. I'll bet you were a wonderful "greeter".
I would say Sue has a wonderful and beautiful garden and you captured it very well.
I hope my computer will stay well for awhile now---MB
I like the flowers, but what makes me think that Sue is someone really happy are those wonderful tall trees she has in her yard!I would be sooooo happy to have such big friends in my garden!
I love, love, love, Sue's garden!

This garden looks so very inviting.
Very beautiful pics. The first I like most. :) LG Tina
We are having a series of over-100-degree days here in the desert, so these photos were like a wonderful vacation for me!
I'm not the gardener in the family but I enjoy looking at gardens and landscaping.
Kudo's to you for helping out.
I love going on garden tours and I think it is so generous of people to share what they have worked so hard to create.
Oh how lovely. I'm pleasantly surprised that you're the second flower post I've visited today - make that 3rd as I too am featuring flowers.
Have a lovely summer.
I saw a listing in The Star about the tour and wondered if you were involved! Beautiful shots.
Lovely place and once again, a beautiful collage for us to enjoy!
What a lovely spot. I love to take garden tours!
Wow - that is a fabulous back yard!
Oh, a fabulous back yard indeed! I could spend some serious time there!! Love your photos as always, such terrific captures, particularly the butterfly! Hope you have a wonderful week!
What a beautiful garden. I enjoy garden tours and getting to see some of the private gardens in my City during open houses and it's great fun seeing one in your part of the world.
What a wonderful garden. And that butterfly is so beautiful. Have only seen one like that in the butterfly park.
Happy week to you:-)
What a beautiful garden you have. I love your photo of the butterfly!
Such a beutiful garden - I imagine it was a very popular garden tour :)
Gorgeous gardens, to be sure. That looks like a wonderful, peaceful place.
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!! Thank you for taking me to such a beautiful garden of Sue, which recharged me.
Have a great day!
Wonderful gardens and so nice to have a warm and a cooler side equally lovely.
Oh, I bet you did have fun!! Lovely place.
Oh my, that is something I would love to do. Must have been a really fun time.
I would love to have backyard retreat like that.
Oh, lucky Sue, and lucky you! What a delightful place. I love the cool back garden.
I was just looking at our rather straggly back yard and thinking, "Well, at least it is shady most of the day."

Have a nice week :)
Oh so pretty! What a fun job... A garden greeter!!!!
Sue's garden looks wonderful, EG. I like house tours and garden tours. When I worked in Columbus, I lived in a historic in-town neighborhood called German Village, which last year had its 50th annual Haus Und Garten tour on the last week in June. I will miss this year's tour, now that I no longer live and work there.
Good for you in volunteering to help. Without active volunteers, no community is strong.
Sue's garden is relaxing.
Sue has a beautiful garden. LOve the butterfly pic and the columbine.
Hi there - that swallow tail butterfly is great. And the garden looks a splendid place to explore.
Thanks for your comment on my blog - you can find out how my kids did when they first saw snow at:

Wow, what a beautiful garden!!
That is a beautiful garden and a lovely collage, almost like a bouquet. :)
Fancy flowers and a beautiful butterfly. Butterflies are the favorite insects. I wish that the garden was mine.
What a beautiful garden! :)
I'll take either one - front yard, or back yard. Love the butterfly at the end, also!
What a lovely garden setting that is. I see you have very tall trees like here in BC.
