Hungry beaver chowing down
Soooo, I was really looking for ducks and shore birds - ones I don't have on my still-very-short life list. Unfortunately, I found no new birds.
BUT I did see three or four beavers. The first one saw me first and the only reason I knew it was there was because it slapped its tail on the water making a huge sound and a big splash. I think I scared it.
I had been fairly quiet. But I got even quieter, inching my way along the path close to the water's edge, poking my lens through a million cat-n-nine-tails as I traveled. I knew I'd hit pay dirt when I spied a beaver lodge, so I waited quietly until this guy or gal waddled up onto the opposite bank for a nibble.
It was difficult to see through the cattails. Luckily the beaver was hungry so stayed in one place for a few minutes while I fiddled with my camera.

Eventually, the beaver had eaten enough treats, so took off.

Nice capture Camera Girl. Sometimes we go in search of one thing to photograph and we end up (like in this case) finding the unexpected.
He/she is one wet and fearsome looking! Great captures!
That first photo is fantastic! I love seeing into his eye.
Wow, I'm impressed. Hope you didn't get your camera wet. This is such a difficult shot to get, but you did it!
Getting the chance for a shot like the first one is awesome!
Cool capture! You find the most interesting subjects!
Your patience paid off!
Cute... but doing damage all the time.

How lucky! I think it's hard to catch a beaver. Glad he was hungry. :) I find them so cute.
So cute!
that first photo is totally AWESOME. I love it, and much better than birds which i can see any place any time. so did you get any shots of cat tails? i would have snapped a few hundred of just cat tails. don't have any here
these are great! thanks for sharing them!
You have to be so patient to get wonderful shots like these!
You are so close to the critter for some terrific pictures.
The first shot is great, can feel the apprehension in the air: "do I eat my treat or pose for the picture"?
God bless you!

lovely photos - how wonderful to find the beavers unexpectedly like that!
How fun! Very nice images. :)
Love that top shot. We never did fully see a beaver when we walked the river in Illinois, only the tail splashes did we hear.
Very cool photos -- I can see you sneaking through the cattails... :)
Glad for your patience to capture the beaver. And the fact that he or she stayed in one place long enough. Great eye!
He doesn't look too happy.
