Walk in the Woods/Rural Thursday

 Boardwalk over soft, mucky areas

It has been chilly but a few days have been sunny enough to encourage us into the woods to check out the wild flowers.

 Bloodroot blossom

Already the bloodroot in some sunny areas have gone by, but in protected areas it's in full bloom.

 Smiling violet

If in a hurry, you'd miss the common blue violets hugging the forest floor, even though they were close to the path.

Cheerful merrybells

But it would be hard to miss these bright yellow bells!

It's nice to get out onto the hiking trails and see the changing seasons.

I love walking in the woods, especially this time of year. I enjoy finding wildflowers and seeing if I can identify them. You have found some pretty ones. I haven't seen or heard of a merry bell, but they sure are beautiful.

Gorgeous flowers. I love to go hiking along the trails through the forest. I'll have to check out the ORTA walks listed on their website.

That looks such an inviting walk. Merrybells is a lovely name - we don't have those but there are bluebells in abundance.

Delicate wildflowers. The three you photographed are so beautiful but so unique and different from one another.

The walk thru the woods & the boardwalk remind me of a similar place nearby, Mingo Wildlife Refuge... beautiful place to see deer & other wildlife & oh so beautiful! =)

Thanks for this post. I don't remember ever seeing bloodroot before, the flower is lovely. But the violet I knew right away--we have both blue and yellow ones here, although I haven't yet seen any. I smiled when I saw it.
And merrybells, what a cheerful name! I am very glad to make its acquaintance!

I'm glad you ventured into the woods to capture these beautiful wildflowers.

Your woodsy shot reminds me of south Florida where we have wooden walks built out over mangrove swamps. They keep your feet dry and make it more difficult for the gators to get you!

Love your wildflowers. I saw some white wildflowers here while playing golf today. I thought of your wildflowers!
