Cedar waxing foraging highbush cranberries
Cedar waxwings are familiar summer residents here. Few birds will eat highbush cranberries, but waxwings are desperate for berries this time of year so eat these that ripened last fall and are still hanging onto their bushes.

I love these birds. We don't see them much here but on occasion a small flock will stop in our yard for a drink and a rest on their way somewhere else. You have really captured them well here.

These are such fine looking birds. I have yet to see one in real life. Someday.
I love these guys. They actually came to our part of Texas in late January, early February this year while I was in Arizona so I missed them. Last year they were here in March but I guess the mild winter encouraged them to head north earlier than usual. We have a huge red-tipped photinia bush (tree) about 10 feet tall, 20 feet long and 6 feet wide and a flock of 20-30 waxwings can strip it of berries in two days!

We used to sometimes have cedar waxwings in our yard before we sold our Oregon house...always been a favorite. thank you for the beautiful photo -- and the memories.
