Wood Ducks/Birding

Mama wood duck (Aix  spponsa) and 5 kids

Wood ducks have been eluding me this year. Until this week, that is, when a female and her young family swam into range of my camera's lens.  I still haven't seen a male this year but by now he has most likely moulted into his less fancy feathers. Maybe next spring I'll find one in his breeding garb.
