Oriole Orange

Orioles love oranges

My husband and I were out birding on Thursday when we saw this atop a wooden seed feeder in a bird lover's side yard - an orange cut in two, one half on one end of the feeder and...

 Sticky feet?

the second half on the other side. The oriole tried both. (I'm wondering how the bird dealt with his juicy feet afterwards.)

Another oriole

Later I saw another oriole on the opposite side of the woods we were walking through. This male was singing a lovely song probably to attract a mate.

A beautiful and colour bird. After years of not seeing any I got excited this week when there was a pair in my backyard. They found nothing of interest and moved on.

A beautiful bird. I've seen only twice here. My orange halves do a good job attracting squirrels.

I've seen them about here, not a lot but some. Beautiful shot with the orange.

That last shot is so beautiful! We had oranges in the yard of our previous house and sometimes birds would peck them to get the juice.

I guess these things just lick their little "feet" to get 'em clean! :)

They are such pretty birds. I'm not sure we have them here. Maybe once in a while but I don't think I've ever seen one. My mother was the bird person in the family and I'm not much of a birder.

Beautiful shots of the orioles! I saw a couple last weekend, but wasn't able to zoom in far enough/quickly enough to get very clear photos.

Beautiful captures! For the first time I had a male and female Oriole at my hummingbird feeder. They're gone now. I wish I had know about the orange, I'd have put one out for them!

I suppose that would make for some awfully sticky feet. Great captures!
