Female Raccoon

 Racoon looking at me

I think we surprised each other. I was walking one way and she in the opposite direction. I pointed my lens at her and she stopped for a couple of seconds and then...

Turning

slowly walked away.

I am linking to Saturday Critters HERE.

What a surprise for both of you; and what a fabulous capture!

They have such bright eyes and comical faces. A niece had one as a pet but eventually had to give it up as it became a bit rough.

What a fun encounter you had! I think these coons can be so cute and personable.... well at least some of the time!

These unexpected encounters are the best. Super shots.

she is a really pretty one... is she gray but the sun makes her golden? our raccoons are silvery gray..

i never like to see them out in the daytime here as that can mean rabies (or my dogs have had them treed all night!) but i'm sure she was just ambling to get home.

Surprise encounters are the best! And she waited just long enough for the photos.

Saw three babies yesterday down by Lakeshore. Adorable.

Ever read RASCAL? It's a fun kids' book about a masked bandit like this guy.

Haha! I've always loved that racoon's look like they're wearing a mask :) Super captures EG.

I think they are so cute. But I know not everybody does. She does look a little surprised. And I bet you were! Glad you got her portrait !

How neat that you were so close to a raccoon. And, I am glad it took flight away from you not at you.

RedPat said...

They are cute but can sure be nasty if they are trying to eat your garden or get into your house!
It is busy downtown with the PanAm but as soon as you get up a bit closer to Bloor St it is like everyone has left town!

Great shot. Of the raccoon.

I too must praise the Americans coming to Toronto to

take part in the Sports. I wish them the very best.

To win metals to go home to American with.

I never see them out in the daylight- what a neat encounter and lucky you to have your camera at the ready. My luck would not be so good.

We saw one on the road today. Little one.

Nice pics of her!

Sometimes I think my cats are raccoons...they look sort of a like them. Rascally little buggers. But how do you know this is a female?

Lowell said...

Okay, now you Canadians are going a little too far. I just read on AOL that people in Toronto have created a memorial for a dead raccoon. They even gave it a name.

I love your health care system but this is a bit extreme. :))))

Could that be Rocky? :)
Nice capture, Tina!
Have a Beautiful Day!
Peace :)

What a nice stroke that you had your camera at the ready. These actually can be rather brazen creatures but on their own terms.
