Now (actually last week)
What a difference the light makes. The day my husband and I visited this harbour last week the light was harsh, not a cloud in the sky. These are Mute Swans that stay in the vicinity all winter and were a bit miffed that I hadn't brought any seed to feed them.
FYI: The swans I posted last week HERE are Trumpeter Swans, which I neglected to tell you.
Then (end of December 2015)
As you can see in the second photo, the sky was mostly overcast.
I am joining Wednesday Waters HERE.

So that's where the swans from Frenchman's Bay went.
I see they turned their backs on you..
Quye lindas fotos! Beleza, calmaria por lá! bjs, chica
Yes, they always expect some food from humans.
Nice!!!!...:)JP
ho boy...you don't want to miff the swans. They can be mean. ;)
Swans can be quite mean, I have been chased a couple of times...
Both photos are beautiful. Oh oh....no seeds means no posing for your camera!
Lovely reflections in the last photo.
Beautiful reflections with that much softer light!
both beautiful shots.
Both beautiful images EG but photography wise it is certainly easier when the sun isn't at its peak.
Very pretty photos.
i love the trails he swans are leaving in their wake.. mute or trumpeter is fin with me
Lovely swans!
Beautiful photos and they portray very well the difference light makes in a shot. Each has its own particular beauty, though. I usually get better photos when the sky is overcast, as a bright sunny day provides too much contrast.
Love watching the swans!
Hello, the swans are a pretty sight! Wonderful capture of the reflections. Have a happy day!
gorgeous boat reflections!!! pretty swans!!!
a pleasant scene
I really like this post; it is great to go back to the same spot at different seasons/different light. Beautiful comparison. (And of course harbors and beaches are my favorite kinds of places).
Always a delight to see swans & the boats provide a pretty scene.
Superb captures as always and, yes, it is always a delight to see swans -- "in person" or pics, particularly your pics!! Hope your week is going well!! Enjoy!!
Swans are such beauties... and they know it!
Beautiful swans. I love these birds! I greet! :)
They had no time for you since you had no food! The sun is out & bright here today, EG!
EG, maravilhosas as imagens! Amei a dos cisnes no lago. Amei a sua visita! Estou a lhe seguir, ok? Beijos! Lindo dia!
Love all the relfections
Beautiful pictures. Boat pictures is a wonderful reflection.
The cloudless sky certainly enhances the picture.I really like the beautiful blue water.
Beautiful photos. The swans are just so graceful - even if they did turn their back on you.
I still don't know if I could tell the difference between the two types of swans.
Even with overcast skies you captured a lovely reflection.
The sun's rays always make that picture is in vivid colors. Both pictures like me, however. Regards.
Too bad you're so far away. I've got some bread they might enjoy. :-)
All swans are just so graceful and beautiful....
this place looks so nice and quiet!
The beautiful swans will probably be as glad to see spring as I will. It might be a little intimidating being mobbed by swans for food.
Love both images!
Beautiful day, and I like a lot of the harbour and reflections.
And of course also swans are lovely.
Light certainly does make a difference! The first shot looks warmer than last week. I also like the wavy reflections in your second shot. :)
Both are pretty! I like the muted colours of the second pic just as much as the fabulous blue. But where's the ice?
Such picturesque scenes. Sometimes I'd like to just climb into them.
=)
Magical water reflections. Love the view of the swans in the first photo.
