1930 Ford/ Window Views

1930 mint-green Ford

 On a short holiday in Upstate New York a few weeks ago, we spotted this "dream car" sitting in a small parking lot in front of an ice cream place. Through the windshield, you can see the car's owner eating ice cream.

The owner graciously consented to let me take photos of his pride and joy.

Olcott, NY/ Window Views...

Shop window, Olcott, New York

I'm a window shopper so it didn't matter that the shop was closed.

Olcott is a tiny cottage-y (is there such a word?) village on Lake Ontario between Buffalo and Rochester. My husband I like to stop there for coffee and an-all-day breakfast served at a small restaurant on the main street. (The people are really, really nice; the is food good and reasonably priced.)

This stop makes my camera very happy as there's ALWAYS something to photograph on the beach, at the harbour or around the cottages and shops.

Notice anything similar about these two towers?  One is on a human house and...

one is for the birds.

I wish I could have taken a better photo of the human house but it's surrounded by a fence. The birdhouse - made to look like the house complete with two rooster weather vanes - is on a pole above the fence. (Squint your eyes and you can see one of the tiny weather vanes above the left-hand tower.) Lucky birds, don't you think?

The Old Stone Jail/ Window Views

The Old Stone Jail, Beaverton, Ontario

This is among the oldest surviving stone buildings in Beaverton, Ontario, probably built around 1850. It's now part of a museum but was originally placed near the town's hotels, likely because itinerant workers and tourists were the trouble makers - certainly not the local townspeople. (wink, wink)

Behind the Civic Centre/ Window Views

The walls of the EG Civic Centre are actually an off white but were temporarily "dyed" this golden coral colour for a few minutes at sunset. Bonus! There were trees reflected in the windows.
