Canadian Thanksgiving

This weekend Canadians are celebrating Thanksgiving.  To all my Canadian friends: Happy Thanksgiving!

Besides eating turkey and pumpkin pie, many boaters are seriously thinking about taking their boats out of the water for the winter.

But as you can see some boaters are still not ready...even though the weather is generally quite autumn like here.

On Saturday I watched this boat being moved to it's winter spot.

Mid October

 Monarch butterfly on dried Queen Anne's Lace

Yesterday I was surprised to see this Monarch out and about (I'd thought they'd all gone a while ago to Mexico!) and even more surprised to see it land on dried weeds.  I guess maybe it was tired and needed to rest because for sure there was no nectr there.

But there's still some nectar in the area. Not a LOT, but SOME.

 Wooly Bear caterpillar

This is my second Wooly Bear of the season. I spotted the first on my porch, the second here on a beach. I hope it knew it was far too cool for a swim.

Milkweed fluff

Can you see the critter on the fluff. It's in danger of being blown away.
