R/Roxy

 The Roxy, Uxbridge, Ontario

The Roxy is a restored movie theatre that shows first-run movies at reasonable prices. I confess that I have never been inside this theatre but those that have say it's clean, comfy and serves the best popcorn ever.

Situated in the centre of town with lots of parking behind the theatre

I am joining ABC Wednesday  HERE

Hello, what a neat movie theater. It reminds me of the theater in my old home town. Great shots. Happy Tuesday, enjoy your day!

Nice. Another icon from Uxbridge. I am like you. Never been inside but I keep thinking about going there some day.

Wonderful old building. Sometimes I think at one point every town of any size had a "Roxy" theater. Wonder where that name came from

really cute. glad it is fully functioning.

It is so nice so see this. We've got a restored theater in Ocala, too, but it's been a struggle keeping it going. Hopefully, this one will be a success.

Re your comment on Ocala: Yes, actually there were a lot of boats out on the water that day, so the marina looked almost vacant.

I would be in there like a flash EG.. Art Deco is my fav archaeologist period. You might have to go in to a movie just to get some pics for us :)

You know I meant architectural period right :)

Love those old Art Deco designs. Theatres like this one are slowly being closed because of the super max theatres which I avoid at all costs.

Definitely old-fashioned, but still eye-catching!

I love the feel of this place...it actually makes me want to go to it to see a movie. I cannot even remember the last movie we went to see, but I think it was Seabiscuit.

Used to be lots of Roxy cinemas in the UK but only a handful have survived.

I enjoyed these photos, great architecture. The old movie theaters are disappearing fast. It's nice to know there are buildings that are being restored.

When we moved to Carleton Place 10 years ago, there was a theatre in an old church basement. Too bad it didn't last.

I suppose you're due for some yummy popcorn.

Nice they restored the building.

Kay said...

I rarely go into theatres anymore but this one is tempting, especially if it serves the best popcorn ever!

Stephanie said...

Nice to see old theatres being used still.

Debbie said...

Looks like such a cute theater!! I wish I could find a theater that still popped popcorn the "old fashioned way", all our theaters here just bring it in in bags, yuck!!

Now go treat yourself to some popcorn and a show!!

Love a cinema. My local independent cinema is also called The Roxy AND also is Art Deco era so the lettering is the same. Two cinemas separated by an ocean;)

Shammickite said...

Yes, I have seen many movies in there, and I can vouch for the very comfy seats!
