Old Barn and Silo

Unpainted barn and old silo

The barn is not what attracted my eye. The silo did.  The roof on the silo is not a common style in my area, although it may have been at one time as there are many old silos around without roofs.

Closer look at the silo

If anyone knows more about this type of silo, I'd love to know more.

You are on to something here Camera Girl. Most barn silos have a dome shape to them.

the roof on the silo could be the hat off of The Tin Man on the yellow brick road. i have not seen a roof like that either..

What a handsome homestead. =)

Yes, you don't orten see the old small silos with the roof still intact.

That's not a silo! That's more of a fortress and that window up there is to shoot anyone encroaching on your land.

I was impressed by the size of the house in the background!

These silos are so big!

The first I saw the silo I thought of the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz. I guess others did too. Interesting.

Does have a kind of tin man quality to it.

Thanks for sharing this lovely farm and the "SNL Conehead" silo. I hope that you continue to find more great rural scenes in your neck of the woods.

I'm going to have to start paying more attention to silos!
Hope you are having a great day!

I've never seen a silo like that before.

I also noticed that the silo seems to be missing a ladder on the side...unless it's on the other side!

I half read every comment to see if anyone had any info about it. There are some silos that are just plain beautiful, and others, like this that I wish I knew more about.

That is lovely scene, though, too.

Cool silo with little window! Nice barn images

Lowell's comment made me laugh.
I was thinking the roof looked like an upside down funnel.

I just love your barns and the interesting silos they have. I always look forward to seeing them. This is a grand silo and that roof is something else. So unusual. We never see anything like it here in VA.

That's cool. Not sure if I can remember seeing anything like this.
