Female and juvenile belted kingfisher
This bird family is skittish. They takes off the minute they see me...even if I'm on the other side of the pond. I can't count the number of times I've tried to capture them with my camera!

What neat birds! Love your photos for all the memes this week :-)
He kind of reminds me of a "Punk Rock, Goth" looking Blue Jay. Never seen one before. A beautiful bird.
I can't believe you actually got photos of them! Fascinating birds. I have no luck with birds; none!
By the way, you have to wash your car once in awhile! Maybe every year or so. ;-)
My very first viewing of these little beauties... I can not recall ever seeing them before and I'm not aware of hearing of them as well... I will google them later.
Tom
I think you did jsut fine! I love it!
Well you captured them this time---swiveled headed and all. super shots. I have a few pics and pride myself on getting them. Skittish is right. Maybe they are just camera shy. MB
I've never seen this bird in person. You did a great job capturing them, your patience paid off.
I can relate. We once lived on a creek where a kingfisher also lived. I could see him from my kitchen window but let me step outside with a camera and he took off. No matter how long I waited her wouldn't come back until I went back in the house.
You actually managed to get a pic, I am impressed!
I'm glad you were finally able to capture these kingfishers. The photos are wonderful.
I actually seen a kingfisher yesterday and was so wishing it would hang around till I could capture it...we were out fishing.
These are great captures....
Good for us that you're persistent, you eventually made it and we can now meet these guys through your wonderful captures!
God bless you!

Great captures! A lot of birds seem to be sittish... I've lost count of the amount of times I've pressed the button but they've already gone!
Well, you certainly caught him this time EG! Wow! What a catch!
I got you postcard in the mail yesterday. Very creative job - I love the card! :)
What WONDERFUL captures with your camera! Kewl looking feathered friend with considerable talent ;--)
Hugs and blessings,
What on earth are these beauties. Familiar with kingfishers but not belted ones. Always learning.
Well you managed it this time! These are fab photos! I'd love to see a kingfisher.
Janice.
In the first photo it looks as if the bird is made from plastic! Great shot!
A very interesting Greetings Blog
A really handsome pair. Wonderful captures.
You deserve a perseverance award - it is so hard to chase birds and captured a family! Lovely!
They certainly are skittish!!!!! I have tried numerous times and have yet to get a photo of one. Your photos are amazing! Wonderful job!
They are cool looking birds. :-)
I have a hard time capturing this bird as well, great work!
You are so lucky to manage these wonderful shots. My son and I are always on the lookout for these magnificent birds when we go to Keene, but they are so illusive.
Beautiful birds, and great captures you managed to get even though they're skitish.
You've done a marvelous job! I can never get close enough.

Nice capture! I have only rarely seen these guys and have never been successful at getting a pic. Wow!
