Elegant Backyards/ Our World

A pair of metal birds standing on BIG rocks

Building a rock can often be a problem and landscaping it too. But one upscale neighbourhood in Bobcaygeon, Ontario, is making the most of their huge rocks.

A road runs along the backside of these lots so I was able to photograph the backyards from the street/

Smaller bird in amongst trees and small rocks

Hostas and ferns accompany this metal bird.

Gardens amongst the rocks

The rock is so attractive that statuary isn't necessary to maintain the elegant look of the neigbourhood.

Hi Camera awesome shots. I just want to say all those rock hunters I have a whole farm of them and they are cheaper if you pick or move them yourself:) B

I wish I had some big rocks like that in my garden. But we do have a wooden heron, so that is a step in the right direction.

Elegant gardens indeed! I'm not always thrilled with yard art but these birds are lovely.

They are indeed pretty settings.

I would think mother nature doesn't mind man's hand in decorating the great outdoors in this manner.

Wonderful captures!

Rocks can look beautiful in gardens and become sculptures, too, amid the flowers and ornaments. The birds are so lovely and sleek I think I would put them in the front yard. :)

That is a beautiful neighborhood. They're definitely making the most of their rocks for landscaping. The metal birds are pretty, too, and look like they fit in.

That 3rd pic looks like a city park!

And I suspect you mean Bobcaygeon ON, as I couldn't find a Bobgaceon!

Made me think of the days when I used to drive to Gananoque, from Ottawa. There was a house just this side of Gan, with a HUGE rock, easily 20 feet high. They had planted all sorts of bulbs in the soil pockets, and it was a real joy in springtime...

What lovely and serene captures. Yards offer so much beauty, often going unnoticed.

I love the hostas and bird in the second pic. These gardens look simple and lovely, but I have a feeling a paid gardener is involved.
