Woodland Walk/Nature Notes

A walk in the woods

Winter? Spring? Some days last week I couldn't tell which season it was. It was Spring Break here in Ontario when school age kids were out & about and some parents were able to spend time with them instead of hiring a babysitter or sending them to daycare.

1. In the largest square: three generations enjoying wildlife along this  urban woodland path.
2. Don't forget the ice: I had to smile when I saw this next to a marina. This time of year, how can any Ontarian forget about the ice?
3. Base of pine tree: I like the way snow melted first at the base of the tree and how the circle got bigger and bigger.
4, Red squirrel: saucy and cute...and yes, mischievous.
5. Moss-covered stump
6. Patches of snow creating interesting  patterns as they melt

Lovely montage of the funniest time of year. Nature can't make up its mind here either! I couldn't help but notice that cute squirrel myself:)

Nice mosaic. I noticed the same thing about our trees in the yard with the circle of melted snow around the base the day after the last storm when the sun was shining. Stormy weather on the way tomorrow night and Wednesday. :(

It is nice to be able to take the children on a walk during their break. Looks like the spring thaw has started. Beautiful shots.

The winter does seem to be lasting forever, it's only the fact that it's so light before 6am here that hints that summer may be on its way. Great series!

Sweet photo of the family hiking and the little squirrel is so cute. Yesterday it was 81°F here Nd you're still dealing with snow. Hope you thaw out soon.

Thank for taking us with you on your walk in the woods. Love the sign - irony suits you! And the squirrel - looks as nutty as I am!
