Waves on Lake Ontario

A windy day at the lake

I know the waves on the Great Lakes are small compared to the enormous ones in California but some days the waves on Lake Ontario come big, fast and furious!

A VERY windy (and cold) day at the lake

I am joining Wednesday Waters HERE.

Return in the winter when it is freezing cold. The lake puts on a wonderful ice show.

Just right for a bit of gentle bodyboarding EG, very thick wetsuit required :)

Beautiful photos of the waves. I think your day by the lake must have been invigorating.

No swimming today!

You stopped the action perfectly - very sharp detail. Those windy cold days are days I stay away from lakes, oceans, etc. And yes, we do have some of those here in Florida. :)

One wouldn't want to go swimming this time of year!

this looks very much like the Atlantic ocean on our East coast, our beaches here only look like this if there is a storm in the gulf.

Just like the ocean. I wouldn't say it's a lake...

I find the Great Lakes to be totally fascinating, with their own tides and waves like you've pictured here.

And they look so cold!

Surf's up!

Beautiful pictures. I have seen mostly ocean waves, but the only one of the Great Lakes I have seen is Lake Michigan in Chicago and it was full of ice!

Really nice!

We see waves only in beaches here... and I could understand how windy it should be there to create waves on lake. Nice clicks

I am not going to disrespect your waves. I know people who have been boating on the great lakes when the storm comes up. (I forget which lake). The waves were all they could handle.
