Red and Green

Painted Christmas colours year-round

These barns were photographed northeast of East Gwillimbury on day threatening to rain. As you can see, it had snowed a bit the night before.

Old But Cared For

 Unpainted barn under moody sky

I really like the look of weathered wood on a barn, especially when the barn is well-cared for.

Red Barn/Green Roof

 Two silos

I guess one silo may still be in use.

East Gwillimbury Farm

A rather typical East Gwillimbury farm in early November

Note the old Ontario farmhouse and the green barns. I never noticed until I started blogging that there are many GREEN barns in my area. Still, I'm surprised when readers tell me how unusual they are where they live.

Red Barn Uxbridge

A fixer-upper

Uxbridge still has many working farms but this is NOT one of them. I think the barn is still lovely though, and the drying grasses and weeds add to its charm.

Worn Red Barn

 Old red barn

I'm not sure if this barn is being used or not.  I saw no animals, but th house on the right (not in the photo) looks lived in.

 Longer view

I'm impressed that the silo looks to be in good shape. But there is an old foundation in the foreground and I have no idea what that was for. The fence is slowly deteriorating.

As seen from the front - the sun went behind a big dark cloud!

It must have been a handsome farm at one time.
