Latch & Lock/ Macro Monday

Closeup of latch on inside door of St George's Anglican Church

Doesn't the latch appear to have been used many times over the past 130 years? Built in 1877, the year the railroad reached Jackson's Point, St. George's Anglican Church overlooks Lake Simcoe, a popular summer destination for Torontarians (people who live in Toronto).

Great photo's, can you just imagine how many hands turned the key and opened that lock through the years?

As the saying goes, they don't make 'em like that anymore.

Now that is a latch and lock! My goodness, what tales that could tell!

If we had a contest for the best photos of Anglican church doors, you'd have a lock on it!

130 years worth of use, I'd say that was an EXTREMELY WELL MADE lock! WoW!

That latch and the wood behind it just seem to ooze age! Just beautiful to look at.

Interesting to think about what each individual was expecting to find when opening this door over the years...
God bless you!

I like those old and faithfuls locks! The color is very bright and the latch is perfectly fitting!

Isn't it amazing what things we capture with our digital cameras?

I hope the wear on the latch means that it got lots of use from people going into the church.

Mt. baker is 10,000ft. second highest (I think) in the state. Mt. Rainier is 14, 800 ft. So the big mts have snow all year round. MB
