Green heron atop a dead branch
This elusive green heron was a big tease. It sat way above my head (I cropped this photo considerably) and watched me. Luckily the light was good. When I tried to move in closer...
Atop a second branch
it flew to another branch! I think it was more annoyed with me than afraid. But finally it grew bored with me and then...
Green heron in flight
it flew away.

Fantastic.The second picture is exceptional.
At least he was polite enough to tsay long enough for a couple of good photos.
Wonderful! I love herons and this green one is a real stunner! Happy Critter Day!
Again, great photos. Birds don't often cooperate but you did a great job with this one!! You were as wily as he as you relentlessly "stalked" him.
He's a beauty even if he isn't cooperative.
that last shot made me say woooo hooo.
Love that last photo.
they are total stinkers! :)
Wonderful. Sometimes those that are hardest to get are the best to have. :)
Great shots. You have lots of patience.
Wow, I've never seen a green heron before. Great shots.
GREAT green heron photos! Timing is everything and yours was perfect! Cool Canadian Camera Critter!
Beautiful, EG. I am not sure that I have ever seen a green heron. Some that were possibilities, but none as clearcut as this one. Nice.
They are cool herons and one of my favorites. Great sighting.
I have only seen these guys in Florida. Love that shot of him in flight!
I've never seen the green herons before. What a great find and sweet captures.
Excellent shots, EG. Wowee!! is all I can say. I have never seen a Green Heron that I know of. I thought maybe--but maybe not--and of course no picture so who knows.
They must be as flighty as the Great Blues are. MB
Great shots. B
They are so hard to catch. Nice shots! I saw my first Green Heron this year in Cape Cod. They are beautiful birds!
At least you got shots of it!
