L/Alphabe-Thursday

Light and shadows on the shores of Lake Simcoe

L is for LIGHT

Photographers try to control and manipulate light. For sure, some types of light tempt me to take photos more than others.

 Early morning light

Golden morning light is something I love. Unfortunately, you do have to get up early -especially in summer - to capture early morning sunlight.

Back lighting shining through this mandevilla plant

Evening light

And I also love late afternoon/evening light.

You are sure right about the golden hours -- both early and late -- are the best times for photos.

I love the shadows on the rock, in the first image, but my favourite of them all is the last one, the setting sun and the barn!!

I could never get up early enough to catch the morning light. You have done a superb job with the light in these photos.

Splendid examples of light here. I love that evening shot.

Beautiful shots of early and evening light EG. The hardest light is midday don't you think, especially in summer.. so harsh.

It's fun getting up in the a.m., unfortunately, the bugs are bad, too!

Beautiful shots of good examples of different light.
We have fog this morning. I took the dog for a walk at 6:30 and all I got was a Mosquito bite. MB

I love the early morning, ;cept the bugs do, too!

You picked some nice examples of light. I also like the golden early light but not the getting up part! :)

Morning light always alludes me. I lie in bed thinking about this problem but cannot figure out why.

These are all such beautiful photos and examples of different kinds of lighting. I really like the last photo of the barn with the sun either setting or rising.

that golden morning light is my favorite light of all. each morning i stand with coffee in hand and stare up at the trees to the west because the sun coming up in the east is slowly painting all things it touches. this photo looks like you used my crayons on it. beautiful

You show beautiful examples of light – my favorite is Evening Light; it has beautiful colors. I find it hard to take photographs in hard noon-day lights, it is tricky.

I rarely see early morning light, EG! ;-)

A very painterly quality to the light in all of these but particularly that first shot.

You've captured so many different ones here and they change every day so you could go on, and on!

The second picture of the barn in early morning is my favorite. It is wonderful!!! The light is so beautiful.

The barn shots with the two different types of lighting is fascinating. Light plays such an important and dramatic role for artists and photographers. Beautiful photos...as usual.

That gold morning light is gorgeous!

The barn shots are particularly nice. The first one is glowing and the second barn image gives such a peaceful feeling.

Lovely images. I agree with the others, the barn shots are wonderful.

It's always about the light. Ken Rockwell, photographer extraordinaire, says you get up before sunrise and then nap during the day so you could go back out to photograph as evening sets in. I agree, but generally am too lazy so have to deal with too bright sun and too much contrast! :)

Perfect lighting and perfect photos. I love the shadow of the leaves on the rock.

Great examples of beautiful lighting. I love your morning and evening shots especially; the light is just right and the scenes are gorgeous. I'm among those who can't seem to "do" mornings.

You certainly know about light because you have taken some beautiful photos.

Interesting play on light. The type of lighting really does affect the composition of the picture taken. Nice shots!!!

Judie said...

what wonderful light in these photos. You have such a gift for photography. Do you sell prints? By the way, my dermatologist was a very good friend, so he felt comfortable telling me that I was old. He's even older!!

I do love backlit flora. and sunsets. I'm seldom out in early morning. The first photo is wonderful!

Photography really is all about the light. I personally love the evening golden light, so I don't have to get up early.
